Email Policy

If you would like to email me, you can do so at kit.lange@gmail.com. Unless your email is insulting, demeaning, reeking of Ward Churchill’s rhetoric and/or plain stupid, I guarantee you a response. However, due to some of the emails I’ve received, I feel the need to post an email policy. I think it’s fair.

1. Any emails sent to me may be posted on the blog for discussion. If you don’t want your email published, then say so. Don’t assume just because you whisper to yourself while you type that I’ll know it’s confidential info. Tell me it’s off the record.

2. A “confidential” labeling is used for giving me information without being named as the source, or for something of that nature. Don’t think just because you ask to stay off the record while calling me names, that I’ll respect that - especially if it’s a new insult I haven’t heard yet. If it’s a good one, I’m going to want to share your oral diarrhea with others.

3. If you want to post a comment, by all means do so. Email addresses are only used for the purpose of notifying you if someone replies to your comment. They will only be made public if you are the chief accuser against a Marine lieutenant and are mucking up the prosecution’s case by running around flapping your mouth and contradicting your original story. If you don’t fit that description, then you can rest assured that I will not publish your email. As Angry in the Great White North put it:

There is a rule in broadcast — treat every microphone as live. Plenty of politicians have gotten in trouble muttering something near a microphone they thought was turned off. No journalist worth his salt would ignore such a comment accidently recorded, and the excuse “I didn’t mean for you to hear it” has never worked. If I receive a provocative email, and by design or by accident I see that the sender is associated with some organization, and the content of the email is especially noteworthy when that sender’s organization is considered, then you can be sure that I will post it for discussion. …if you let me know who you work for, I will consider that when I read your emails.

That is all. Feel free to email me and let me know what you think, but be creative. If your object is to get posted, remember - if I’ve heard the insult before, it probably won’t get posted; just deleted.
