Marines Accused of Proselytizing in Fallujah

This article literally sickens me. God forbid the Marines who are laying down their lives for these people get thanks. Instead, they get articles like these, written in a tone of hatred and disdain. Disgusting.

FALLUJAH, Iraq — At the western entrance to the Iraqi city of Fallujah on Tuesday, Muamar Anad handed his residence badge to the U.S. Marines guarding the city. They checked to be sure he was a city resident, and when they were done, Anad said, a Marine slipped a coin out of his pocket and put it in his hand.

Out of fear, he accepted it, Anad said. When he was inside the city, the college student said, he looked at one side of the coin. “Where will you spend eternity?” it asked.

He flipped it over, and on the other side it read, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16.”

“They are trying to convert us to Christianity,” said Anad, a Sunni Muslim like most residents of this city in Anbar province. At home, he told his story, and his relatives echoed their disapproval: They’d been given the coins, too, he said.

“Iraq is investigating a report that U.S. military personnel in Fallujah handed-out material that is religious and evangelical in nature,” said Rear Adm. Patrick Driscoll, a U.S. military spokesman, in a statement e-mailed to McClatchy Newspapers. “Local commanders are investigating since the military prohibits proselytizing any religion, faith or practices.”

Fallujah, the scene of a bloody U.S. offensive against Sunni insurgents in 2004, has calmed and grown less hostile to U.S. troops since residents turned against al-Qaida in Iraq.

Now residents of the city are abuzz that some Americans who they consider occupiers are also acting as Christian missionaries. Residents said some Marines at the western entrance to their city have been passing out the coins for two days in what they call a “humiliating” attempt to convert them to Christianity.

In the markets, people crowded around men with the coins, passing them to each other and asking in surprise: “Have you seen this?”

The head of the Sunni endowment in Fallujah, the organization that oversees Sunni places of worship and other religious establishments, demanded the Marines stop.

“We say to the occupiers to stop this,” said Sheikh Mohammed Amin Abdel Hadi. “This can cause strife between the Iraqis and especially between Muslim and Christians. … Please stop these things and leave our homes because we are Muslims and we live in our homes in peace with other religions.”

In interviews, residents of Fallujah repeated two words — “humiliation” and “weakness.”

“Because we are weak this is happening,” said a shop owner who gave his name as Abu Abdullah. “Passing Christianity this way is disrespectful.”

“The occupier is repeatedly trespassing on God and his religion,” said Omar Delli, 23. “Now the occupier is planting seeds of strife between the Muslims and Christians. We demand the government in Fallujah have a new demonstration to let the occupier know that these things are humiliating Islam and the Quran.”

The controversy over the coins comes on the heels of a tempest triggered by a U.S. sniper who used the Quran, Islam’s holy book, for target practice. The sniper was pulled out of Iraq after tribal leaders on May 9 found a Quran with 14 bullet holes and graffiti on the pages.

In Islam, the holy book is never to touch the floor, let alone be defaced. Iraqi leaders condemned the actions, U.S. generals apologized and President Bush offered a personal apology to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

In Fallujah, Mohammed Jaber saw one of the coins and said he thought of the bullets lodged in the Quran, the torture of Iraqi men at the Abu Ghraib prison in 2004 and the rape of a 14-year-old girl and her murder, and that of her family in Mahmoudiya.

“Now we have this missionary way by these coins,” he said. “We feel the Muslims are weak and we hope that we will reach a point when we are strong to let them know what is wrong and what is right.”

Five Terrorists Face the Death Penalty

MIAMI - A Pentagon official has formally approved death penalty charges against reputed 9-11 architect Khalid Sheik Mohammed and four other men for allegedly conspiring in the Sept. 11 attacks, according to their charge sheet obtained by The Miami Herald.

Military Commissions officials e-mailed the approved charge sheets to defense lawyers in Washington, D.C., after the close of business May 12 - confirming plans for the first war court prosecution seeking execution as the ultimate penalty.

That means that, absent defense requests for delay, the men could make their first appearance at the Guantanamo war court in June.

A Pentagon spokesman, Navy Cmdr. Jeffrey Gordon, declined to release the charges publicly, or discuss them. ”When we have something to announce, we will,” he said in an e-mail May 14.

How anyone, even if appointed, could in good faith represent the men responsible for the calculated slaughter of Americans is beyond me. And yet these men have lawyers. Why, I ask, are they entitled to constitutional rights? Answer: They’re not.

The best part is when they start talking about “water torture.” Considering my truck has a bumper sticker that says “I Support Waterboarding,” I think we all know where I stand on the issue. The whole thing is ridiculous.

According to a leaked copy of his November-December 2002 interrogation log, U.S. interrogators used sleep deprivation, left him naked or strapped to an intravenous drip without bathroom breaks to get him to confess. They also told him to bark like a dog.

Later, he got a lawyer, Gitanjali Gutierrez of the New York Center for Constitutional Rights, who said he recanted his confession.

On May 12, Gutierrez said the Crawford’s decision to strike her client’s name from the charge sheet was a vindication.

”The dismissal of Qahtani’s charges affirm that everything he said at Guantanamo was extracted through torture - or the threat of torture,” she said.

His treatment at the Pentagon’s war on terror detention center was “so well documented and unconscionable,” she said, “that he is unprosecutable and should be return to the custody of Saudi Arabia.”

Poor baby. Maybe next time they should let him ride on a jetliner on a collision course with a building. How about he gets to jump from a skyscraper? Oh, I know. Maybe he should be allowed to lay crushed under rubble for a few days.

Islamic Goat-Lovers Say Mecca is at Zero Longitude

Just when I think I’ve heard everything that is stupid, asinine, retarded, pedophiliac, butt-loving, and arrogant about that religion of peace pigs called Islam, they surprise me (h/t John Hawkins at RWN).

SPEAKERS at a Doha conference on Mecca’s importance said that the holy city, not Greenwich, should become the reference point for world time, reigniting an old controversy that started some four decades ago.

A group of Islamic scholars presented on Saturday “scientific evidence” to prove that Mecca was the core of that the zero longitude passes through the holy city and not through Greenwich in the UK.

Greenwich in England has been the home of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) since 1884. GMT is sometimes called Greenwich Meridian Time because it is measured from the Greenwich Meridian Line at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. Greenwich is the place from where all time zones are measured.

In a clear support for the call, Islamic scholar Yousuf al-Qaradawi said Islam, “unlike other religions, never contradicted science”.

The participants recommended the unification of the time in the Arab world to the time in Mecca instead of Greenwich. They also called the Arab governments to abandon the new world maps “because they are forged to serve Western interests.”

They also demanded that buildings in the Arab world be directed towards Qibla.

Now I have heard it all.

Three-year-old Islamic Bride in Afghanistan

Doesn’t this just make you want sharia law in the U.S.?

Little Sunam is among the 16 per cent of Afghan children married before they reach 15.

Her dad Parvez promised Sunam to her seven-year-old cousin Nieem. It was a gift to the lad’s mum, Parvez’s sister, who wanted a daughter.

The children, from Kabul, will probably marry when they are 14 or 15. Their aunt Najiba says the match is “unbreakable” and they will not be able to divorce under tribe traditions.

The minimum legal age of marriage in Afghanistan is 16 for girls and 18 for boys.

But many wed earlier, as a bride can fetch twice the average yearly salary for her family.

Human rights groups are calling for the practice to end. Manizha Naderi, of Women for Afghan Women, said: “It’s barbaric.”

Then again, isn’t everything about Islam barbaric?

Rosie Turns Down Terrorist Group’s Invite

The Queen of the Loonybin herself, Rosie O’Donnell, was invited to go to the Middle East and hang out with Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, a Middle East terror group.

“I agree with what this O’Donnell says. … We welcome Rosie O’Donnell to stay among us and to get to know the truth from being here, like many American peace activists are doing,” said Ala Senakreh, West Bank chief of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terrorist organization. [...] “[She can report to Americans that] we are not in love with killing, we like peace, we are human beings, it is the occupation that obliges us to do what we do,” Senakreh said.

One of O’Donnell’s minions apparently called the invite “absurd,” and said she wouldn’t be taking them up on their offer.

She’s not scared of the terrorists, mind you. She’s not worried about what they do to lesbians and homosexuals, and she doesn’t think anyone should be afraid of terrorists, but she’s not interested in going to the Middle East and coming face to face with the object of her misdirected affections, either.

Jack Bauer At Work: Terror Cell Infiltrated And Busted

This is breaking news, so details are kind of sparse at this point. Attorney General Albert Gonzales has a press conference scheduled for 1000 tomorrow to disseminate more information.

After an operation that started about four months ago, the FBI has arrested several suspects of domestic terrorism in a Miami low-income housing project.

The arrests took place Thursday afternoon at the Scott Housing Projects in the area of NW 68th street and 15th Avenue. Miami Police officers were seen in the area securing a perimeter for the FBI to carry out their arrests.

Sources tell CBS4 News it is unclear whether weapons or bomb-making materials were found, but those detained are suspected of being involved in planning terrorist activity.

Neighbors say suspicious activity had been observed at the home recently.

The Sears Tower in Chicago was one of the targets for a terrorist strike:

ABC News has learned that federal agents, including the FBI, are launching a series of raids tonight targeting a suspected terror cell based in Miami. According to sources familiar with the investigation, the group allegedly planned to bomb the FBI building in Miami and the Sears Tower in Chicago.

The group has been under surveillance for some time and was infilitrated by a government informant who allegedly led them to believe he was an Islamic radical. The suspects are described as African Americans and at least one man of Caribbean descent.

Note the very careful aversion to ackowledging any pertinent religion of the terrorists. “But HEY”, says ABC, “they’re BLACK”. I don’t give a crap if they’re purple - they’re terrorists. They all belong to the same religion of hate and insanity.

Allahpundit points out that early reports that the terrorists were not Islamic are false: Government officials tell Fox the men were plotting “to wage jihad in conjunction with Al Qaeda.” HotAir has a video of the Fox News coverage.

UPDATE:Allahpundit has some good news from Capt. Ed on the nature of the terrorists, like we already didn’t know:

Residents living near the warehouse said the men taken into custody described themselves as Mulims and had tried to recruit young people to join their group, which seemed militaristic.

The residents said FBI agents spent several hours in the neighborhood showing photos of the suspects and seeking information. They said the men had lived in the area about a year.

The men slept in the warehouse, said Tashawn Rose, 29. “They would come out late at night and exercise. It seemed like a military boot camp that they were working on there. They would come out and stand guard.”

She talked to one of the men about a month ago: “They seemed brainwashed. They said they had given their lives to Allah.”

I swear - tell me that ain’t straight out of an episode of Sleeper Cell. Which if you haven’t seen yet - you MUST. That’ll get your panties in a bunch.

NBC goes a bit futher in their physical description of the Pisslamists:

The men — part of a radical Black Muslim group — were planning terror acts in Miami and Chicago, officials say…

Benjamin Williams, 17, said the group had young children with them sometimes.

“We were under the assumption that they were opening up a garage business,” he said, adding that they wore normal clothes “but sometimes they would cover their faces. Sometimes they would wear things on their heads, like turbins [sic].”

Who Will Stand?

We have no sense of outrage anymore.

I’ve written about this topic before, but let’s face it: Some Americans obviously aren’t getting the message. Woody explains it very clearly.

Two US Soldiers were captured in Iraq. They were tortured and killed in the most inhumane abuse of human beings that I can recall in recent history. These men were beaten, their arms contorted, their testicles cut off, their penises cut off and stuffed in their mouths, their eyes gouged out, their hearts cut out and were beheaded. If reading that shocks or disgust you let me take this opportunity to say that I’m glad to offend.

America needs to get pissed off. America needs to know that it’s media would rather lull it back to sleep than wake it up with the truth. America needs to tell it’s leaders to get serious about the war on terror before it’s too late. America needs to rise up and wipe Islamic terrorism from the face of the earth. America needs to tell anyone who would gripe and complain as we do this to fuck off. America needs to tell anyone who would obstruct us in doing this that they are next. This is what needs to happen if we are to live in peace and freedom in the twenty first century.

Why is the brutal torturing of two American servicemen no more than another news item, buried beneath the latest follies of Angelina Jolie? Why are we not screaming angry?

Stand up, America! Put your latte down and remember who you are. Remember where you came from, and the men whose courage paved your way. Remember the blood that bought you this dream and the continuing sacrifices that sustain your freedom here. Remember the truths that we hold to as Americans, the knowledge that without freedom, life is nothing. Remember the words of Jefferson, who said that the tree of liberty must be watered from time to time with blood: the blood of tyrants and patriots. We are those patriots. We are the ones who hold our future and our children’s future. We are the only ones who can stand up against this evil and vanquish it from the world.

Islam is a cancer; a diabolical, murderous, depraved ideology that will bear any burden, traverse any land, and bear any burden only for the express purpose of seeing you dead. Will you lay down and let it roll over you? Will you sit idly by and watch for fear of offending someone? I’ll be honest with you: I don’t give a damn about any other country above my own. America FIRST.

The time is long past for spectating. We MUST stand and defend our nation, or it. will. fall. We MUST rise up and do as our forefathers did. We MUST. If we as a nation do not stand in the face of this evil, then we are cowards and deserve the horrifying fate that will absolutely and certainly befall us.

Each of us must make our own choice. As for me, I refuse to lay down. I refuse to fall victim to a bunch of primitive animals who offer nothing to the earth but bloodshed and depravity. If I can, I will wear a uniform again. If I can’t, then I will find some other way to serve. But no matter what happens, I will stand - as a free citizen - as an American.

As Michelle Malkin pointed out, they are from such a “broad strata” of society that it seems impossible that they’d form an alliance. I mean, what on earth could possibly link them together in a terror plot?

At the press briefing held by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police today, the suspects who appeared in court–all sporting traditional Muslim male beards and requesting Korans–were described as coming from a “broad strata” of society.

The 12 adult suspects, again:

1. Fahim Ahmad, 21, Toronto;
2. Zakaria Amara, 20, Mississauga, Ont.;
3. Asad Ansari, 21, Mississauga;
4. Shareef Abdelhaleen, 30, Mississauga;
5. Qayyum Abdul Jamal, 43, Mississauga;
6. Mohammed Dirie, 22, Kingston, Ont.;
7. Yasim Abdi Mohamed, 24, Kingston;
8. Jahmaal James, 23, Toronto;
9. Amin Mohamed Durrani, 19, Toronto;
10. Steven Vikash Chand alias Abdul Shakur, 25, Toronto;

Nope - no clues there. None.

Still, Canadian investigators have failed to find anything that connects the 17 terrorists they recently arrested.

In investigators’ offices, an intricate graph plotting the links between the 17 men and teens charged with being members of a homegrown terrorist cell covers at least one wall. And still, says a source, it is difficult to find a common denominator.

Rottweiler says, “Nobody can be that stupid. Nobody can be allowed to be that stupid.”

I can imagine his frustration since earlier, His Rottiness helped as best he could:
