No Illegal Alien Left Behind!

It’s probable that our Senators have chosen to ignore their electorate and pass the Kennedy/McCain AMNESTY bill, amended to be the Hagel/Martinez bill. That doesn’t mean they are off the hook, though. November is right around the corner, and they still have to wrangle with the House over the bill’s provisions, and it’s not likely the House will sell us out like the Senate has.

I got an update from Grassfire.org after they visited the Senate today:

The Senate is voting today on its amnesty bill, more properly called the “No Illegal Alien Left Behind Act.”

The Senate will pass the bill, but it is still important that our Senators continue to feel grassroots pressure and know that citizens oppose the bill. Ron De Jong and I heard your calls in every office we visited yesterday, but we must continue!

Urge the Senator to Vote “No” on the HAGEL-MARTINEZ bill: “This bill is an amnesty bill and I will not support any Senator who votes for HAGEL-MARTINEZ.” The staffer may deny that this is an amnesty bill. Just say that the Senator is wrong and the American people know that this is amnesty!

War Vets, Illegal Aliens, Terrorists and Identity Theft

A story that’s being covered by newsrooms across the country has invigorated interest in the crime of identity theft and created fear for millions of war vets. According to the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs, thieves stole sensitive and confidential personal information on 26.5 million US military veterans, including Social Security numbers and birth dates.

The government investigation revealed that the theft occurred after a Veterans Affairs employee improperly took the material home to “work on a project.” The employee was victimized earlier this month, according to the FBI.

The information involved mainly those veterans who served and have been discharged since 1975, but data of some vets discharged before 1975 who submitted claims to the VA may have been included in the stolen data.

ATTN: Veterans’ Disabilities Benefits To Be Cut

I was notified by a Gulf War veteran via email that Congress was considering cutting the benefits of disabled veterans by the amount of their social security stipend. Such a move by Congress has been confirmed and looks probable:

There have been allegations from outside parties that the Veterans Disability Compensation Commission recently set up by Congress was studying the question of whether veterans disability compensation should be reduced by Social Security disability benefits. There is no doubt now. The Commission has now confirmed this. No final decision has been made, but it seems clear from the press release that recommending an offset is under very serious consideration.

I don’t think such a thing should be allowed to happen. Here is a petition started by a group of veterans. Would you consider signing it? Align yourself with the most deserving of American citizens: our vets.

Personally, I’d rather pay our veterans triple any amount than see one cent get siphoned off into an AMNESTY entitlement program for non-Americans.

The U.S. Congress Is Ready To Put America’s Most Disabled Veterans Below The Poverty Level.

Congressional leaders and President George Bush have formed the VETERANS’ DISABILITY BENEFITS COMMISSION to cut veterans’ benefits. Is this how you want your federal politicians to repay those who have sacrificed so much for you, your family, and America?

Personally, I think this is a total disgrace to even form the Commission to plan such an act. I’d love to know who the federal politicians are who support this Commission of Disgrace.

I feel that the VETERANS’ DISABILITY BENEFITS COMMISSION should be disbanded and all its supporters in Congress names be made public.

HELP! Bloggers Imprisoned in Egypt

I got this shocking letter from our friend, Kender:

Dear WideAwakes, my friend “Sam Adams” at the Sandmonkey, an Egyptian blogger and one of the good guys, is in Egypt with disturbing news.

Please, I dont ask you guys anything with urgency ever, but this is beyond important. Several bloggers in Egypt have been arrested and are being held, and Sam is possibly in danger of being arrested himself, and this information needs to be dissiminated as widely as possible.
What follows is the email I have recieved from Sam……how can we spread the word?

As you may have heard by now, Egyptian Blogger Alaa Abdel Fatah has been arrested alongside 10 others while demonstrating in support of the independence of the Judiciary in Egypt and the release of previous demonstrators who were detained 2 weeks earlier. The Police entrapped them, cordoning off their peaceful protest and then proceeded to handpick the demonstrators that they wanted to detain, beat them, and then arrested them.

Alaa and those arrested with him are now arrested for 15 days “pending investigation” , which could be renewed indefinitely if the state so wishes. He and the men were sent to the infamous Torah Prison and the girls to the Qanatir prison for the duration. This makes them hardly safe, because stuff that goes on in Egyptian prisons on the hands of the jailors: beatings, sexual assaults, torture of all kinds.

Currently there are about 48 detained, 6 of them are bloggers, and 3 of them are women. The best known is Alaa, which makes him the posterboy of this campaign - but getting them out is equally as important. Egypt has fewer than 830 bloggers all in all, 60 of whom are political and less than 30 are politically active. Now 6 of those are in jail - 20% of all politically active Egyptian bloggers - and amongst them one of Egypt’s most highly profiled one.

This is by no means a co-incidence. Government agents handpicked people to arrest from amongst the protesters. They have been wanting to get Alaa for a long time now, precisely because he is high profile, and because he helps organizes the protests and spread the information through the blog aggregator he runs (http://www.manalaa.net/). With Alaa gone, Aggregator could shut down without his maintenance and other bloggers could get too scared to be active and find no way to organize or reach one other. It’s of vital importance that he gets released ASAP.

Alaa is a secular democracy activist, and a tireless advocate of freedom, free speech and human rights. He organizes demonstrations and engages in protests against all kinds of injustices in Egypt and is the winner of the international Best of the Blogs award from Reporters Without Borders last December.

Alaa was arrested while protesting to support Egypt’s Judges fight for independence. 2 weeks earlier he had organized a “National Unity” protest to show solidarity with Egypt’s Christians who suffered a sectarian attack on 3 churches on Good Friday. Before that he was one of the few voices that urged calm and peaceful dialogue while the cartoon crisis was hitting its peak. He is a desperately needed voice of moderation and democracy in Egypt, and one of the few flickers of hope in a country whose future seems mire between the crushing rule of the regime and the fanaticism of the Islamist opposition.

And now Alaa needs your help. We have started an e-mail campaign to the Egyptian embassies and the US State Department in order to push for his release, and have started protests in front of the Egyptian embassy and consulates in the US for his release. We will also hold protests in France, Italy and Gemany. We could use your help in getting the word out and sending them an e-mail demanding his release.

Does this look secure to you? Our southern border with Mexico is only one-third fenced!

Bush says building an $8.6 billion dollar fence is “a waste of money“. So, American citizerns are once again stepping up to the plate to do the job that our government (and illegal aliens ) ARE UNWILLING TO DO!!

This weekend, American citizens are beginning to build a fence in southern California. If you are in California, consider joining them!!

While the Senate studies the idea of a fence and votes for amnesty, concerned American citizens have elected to build the fence and ask the Senate to study the harmful effects of amnesty.

Each day more than 15,000 illegals cross our southern border unimpeded. The Border Patrol is max’d out now with 4,000 arrests per day. Of the 2,100 miles along the border, only approximately 700 miles is fenced.

On April 29th, American citizens from all over California will begin actual work on the fence.

Are you interested in making history and doing something to protect your country? All you have to do is show up with some leather work gloves, pliers and elbow grease.

You do not have to join any group, nor do you need to fill out any forms. If millions of illegal aliens can demonstrate in our streets claiming that they do all the work worth doing, we will prove that this is one job that even the illegal aliens are unwilling to do.

The atmosphere will be much like a barn-raising from our recent history here in the West.

All patriotic Americans who have been concerned (to put it mildly) about the predominance of flags of foreign nations at the recent pro-illegal alien marches and the desecration of the American flag by supporters of illegal aliens are being asked to participate in a demonstration of patriotism and American sovereignty by taking an American flag with them to work, school or anywhere this Thursday, April 6.

How it works is simple: Proudly carry an American flag with you wherever you are in public. Small parade style flags on sticks would work best for those who commute by bus or subway and those who walk to work. Carry it around with you when you go out for lunch and when you leave work.

Wear red, white and blue patriotic attire. Fly the American flag at your home. Fly an American flag from your car antenna. Tape an American flag in your car window. The goal is to have Old Glory be given the prominence it deserves and to remind everyone–politicians, illegal aliens and their enablers–that the American flag comes first in this country.

Folks have been clamoring for a march to respond to the pro-illegal alien marches. This is a way to do that without having to take time off from work and family responsibilities and still take a stand in public.
John McCain has been touting the pro-illegal alien marches as being effective in influencing polticians in Washington. Now’s your chance to exercise your influence.

Please pass this message along to everyone you know and every patriotic blogger you can think of. Contact any patriotic group you belong to. Contact your local media and talk radio shows. We don’t have George Soros to bankroll a publicity campaign. We just have us. Stand up for America and Old Glory this Thursday.

Cindy Sheehan will be in Germany this upcoming weekend to spread her message of retreat and defeat as she marches from a church in Landstuhl (a town where wounded American soldiers are treated) to a location outside Ramstein Airbase where she plans to set up another “Camp Casey.”

But not everyone is planning to sit around and silently watch the German media fawn and drool over Ms. Sheehan. Several groups are organizing a peaceful counter demonstration to support American and Coalition soldiers and victory in Iraq. We strongly encourage all of our readers in Germany and surrounding areas to converge on Ramstein this Saturday to take part!

Republicans Abroad encourages the demonstration of support for building democracy in Iraq and for all of the troops serving there.

Cindy Sheehan’s visit to Germany is not only intended to undermine the sacrifice that U.S. troops are making to fight the terrorists in Iraq, but is meant to undermine German-American relations.

Cindy’s call for a withdrawal of troops from Iraq is terribly irresponsible: withdrawal would leave the fate of millions of Iraqis up to a few thousand terrorists and withdrawal of German support for our troops would make their job much more difficult to achieve.

Rather than lobby the world against American troops, Cindy Sheehan should honor the loss of her son by lobbying for more international support for fighting the real terrorists in Iraq.

I know that there’s a growing number of sources out there about sex offenders; but this is the first one I’ve seen that shows you what the creeps look like.

This website is incredibly valuable, and a must-see for families with children: Family Watchdog. It will map the registered sex offenders and predators in your neighborhood. Enter your address and the map will show your house - you’ll be shocked with how many colored blocks are arrayed around your home!

All the little red colored boxes are child molesters, the yellow ones are rapists, blue is sexual battery, and green is indecent exposure, etc. When you click on the colored box, you’ll get a name, address, and photo of the sex offender, and short description of his crime. I think that’s incredibly important so that you can recognize someone if you’re out in public, like the Little League ball fields, the school grounds, the grocery store, etc.

The website also contains other resources for protecting your family.
