Miley Cyrus and the Vanity Fair Photos
April 29, 2008
Are we sick of Miley Cyrus yet? I know I am. At first, it was a good story. Cute little girl, daughter of Achy Breaky Heart guy, gets TV show where she hides the fact that she’s a star or something. If you’re ages 6-14 and female, like Miley’s audience, it’s a plausible thing. It’s a multi-billion dollar industry, this Miley Cyrus craze, and to be frank, it was really only a matter of time before the princess lost a shoe.
Enter Vanity Fair and Annie Leibowitz, who featured Miley in the new issue. The issue, of course, wasn’t the fact that Miley Cyrus was in Vanity Fair. The issue was that her clothes weren’t in Vanity Fair.
I’ve seen the photo in question, much like every other person in America by now, and if she was 21, it’d be one thing. But she’s 15, people. Fifteen years old. Not old enough to have a driver’s license, but old enough to appear in Vanity Fair wrapped in a bedsheet?
VF claims that Miley’s “parents or her minders” were there the whole time. That means, this debacle is on them. Miley’s a child. Her parents failed. End of story.
They Don’t Support the Troops–Ever.
March 13, 2008
Berkeley “thinker” explains that any support for the troops is bad–even if they’re friends or relatives.
Berkeley, CA–Every so often we read something that is so evil, so disgusting, and so vile that it stays with us after it’s read, like some kind of curse we can’t shake in our minds. This article is one of those vile things.
Kenneth Thiesen, of the Berzerkley Observer, wrote a piece called “Why I Don’t Support the Troops.” Interestingly enough, he gets one thing right:
It is objectively impossible to support the troops of the imperialist military forces of the U.S. and at the same time oppose the wars in which they fight.
Well, no kidding. We’ve been telling you people that for a while now. You telling us you don’t support the troops isn’t really news to us. It’s just letting us know to step up the fight, because you’re obviously comfortable enough now that you don’t feel the need to hide behind the tired old “I support the troops but not the war” platitude. You’re bombing recruiting offices, for crying out loud. We know you don’t support the troops.
Theisen, however, is not content to say he doesn’t support the troops. He’s not happy just to say he opposes the war in Iraq. He has a whole list of “gems” that he shares with the equally-idiotic Berkeley population:
- “We need to oppose the recruitment of men and women into the military. We need to support resisters within the military who have realized what they are doing and now choose to resist the role of the U.S. military. ”
- “We need to expose that those in the U.S. military are trained to be part of a ‘killing machine…’ The bottom line is that even if these people are relatives or friends, you can not support the troops without also supporting the objective role that these troops play in the imperialist system.”
- “United States troops are acting as destructive and murderous forces of invasion and occupation.”
- “Those of us who oppose the unjust wars of the Bush regime must struggle with those in the military and those that support them to expose what role the troops objectively play. Supporting the troops engaged in making war against other nations and people on behalf of U.S. imperialism is not acceptable.”
At least they’re being honest about it now. It’s nothing we didn’t already know, just by looking at their actions: Bombings, defecation on the flag, how they treat veterans. They hate our nation, hate our military, and therefore by definition they hate those of us who support them.
Only one problem…we’re not going anywhere, and we will continue to stand for our men and women in uniform.
Thanks to LGF for the tip.

Teenager Murders Dad Over Myspace

What the &^*# is wrong with people?
PHOENIX — A Mesa teenager says he fatally shot his father last month because he wouldn’t let him use the Internet, police reports show.
According to a Mesa police report released Wednesday, 15-year-old Hughstan Schlicker told a homicide detective that he considered committing suicide in front of his father after finding a 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition in the garage of their home, but decided to murder his father instead and then commit suicide.
Small Bomb Explodes at Times Square Recruiting Center
March 6, 2008

NEW YORK
- A small bomb caused minor damage to an empty military recruiting
station in Times Square early today, shaking guests in hotel rooms high
above “the crossroads of the world.”
Police blocked off the area to investigate the explosion, which
occurred at about 3:45 a.m. No one was injured. The blast left a gaping
hole in the front window and shattered a glass door, twisting and
blackening its metal frame.
Authorities said at a news conference that a witness saw a person on
a bicycle wearing a backpack and acting suspiciously, but that no one
saw a person place the device in front of the recruiting center.

Hypocrisy, Thy Name is Liberal
October 5, 2007
In the wake of Democrats whining about Rush and his comments regarding antiwar “vets,” I was pleased to see the following list show up in my email from a good friend of mine.
Those of us not suffering from BDS already know about these incidents. Of course, since Democrats have notoriously short memories, they only remember what they said yesterday. Come tomorrow, they won’t remember that either, because they’ll have a new position. At any rate, let’s get started.
Why is everyone mad at Rush for having the balls to call out these idiots who spit in the face of the country they once served? I’m not sure why Dems are angry…it’s not like they’ve never insulted the troops. Let’s take a look…

Weenie Brits
June 22, 2006
I love you guys, you know that. But your culture is getting increasingly pussified. This latest brou-ha-ha over the Nike ad with Wayne Rooney, your World Cup hero, is silly and ridiculous. Your politicians decry any semblance of strength or aggressiveness, the very traits necessary to be a champion of ANYthing! Here’s why they object to this ad:
Labour MP Stephen Pound said the advert was ‘truly horrible.’ ‘This is such a horrible image and is so horribly war-like that it can only be described as Nike being crass, offensive and insensitive as they try to hitch poor old Rooney to their commercial band-wagon.’
Horribly war-like? Insensitive? Wahhhh. And ‘poor, old Rooney’? Sure - emasculate and belittle the very guy on whom you’ve hung your hopes for the World Cup. Besides, isn’t it a little insensitive to win anyway? I mean, your opponent’s self-esteem might suffer! There should be NO winners, so that there will be NO losers. (Sounds like Little League in California.)
The MP for Ealing North added: ‘He should go out and wear Adidas instead. It’s offensive on so many different levels and extremely nasty. Wayne’s a good Catholic boy and I think the obvious crucifixion nuance is one part of it, but the aggressive nature of the pose is something we could do without.
First of all, real men don’t use gay words like “nasty”. What a dandy.
More importantly, your team is campaigning for the World Cup and you’re whining about your star being “aggressive”? Sheesh - why don’t you just have your entire team forfeit the rest of their World Cup matches before they exhibit any “horrid” aggression whatsoever? I’m pretty sure that the other teams will get offended if you win, so why risk that?!
Nike pointed out that they were merely depicting Rooney in his trademark goal-scoring ‘celebration’ gesture and denied they had sought to make any comparison with Christ on the cross. Nonetheless, the church folks are getting offended anyways, despite the fact that they likley recognized the famous gesture anyway.
Rev Rod Thomas of Church of England evangelical group Reform was not convinced. ‘It’s quite a disturbing image and because the paint is wet, it really looks like blood,’ he said. ‘It therefore brings to mind the crucifixion to many people, and why Nike would want to do that, I haven’t a clue, unless it is simply as a publicity stunt.’
That’s right, get offended anyways, just ‘cuz you feel like it. Nevermind that there’s another reasonable and likely explanation. The Rev bumbles on:
‘The trivialisation of Christ’s suffering is highly offensive to Christians and to God. This will cause real hurt to people. The other aspect of it is the aggression contained in it, bound up with the flag of St George, which you might see as a throwback to the Crusades, which is hardly going to go down well with Muslim countries. It’s offensive on several different levels.’
Who cares?! Muslims are flat out offended by the very fact that you’re alive, moron! They’re offended on “several different levels” that we’re not all Muslims - or have you missed that little reality? Many of them would like to remove your silly, effete little pinhead from your shoulders, they are that offended by your very existence.
Nike responds again, like they are speaking to small, retarded children:
‘It was intended solely as a celebration of Rooney’s return to the team and is based on his own trademark goal-scoring celebration, nothing to do with the crucifuxion at all, ‘ she added.
‘If we have offended anyone on those grounds, we would stress it was unintentional and we apologise. It is not meant to be an aggressive picture, either. It was a case of catching the mood of the nation as everyone urges Rooney on to great things, and of course our slogan puts it perfectly.
‘The red paint is not meant to be blood, it’s just echoing the body paint which fans cover themselves in and the rest of Wayne’s body is painted white. It’s the flag of St George, and nothing else.’
You can almost hear the huge *sigh* of exasperation, can’t you?
I feel bad for the manly men of Britain - I can see now how you’re being forced into national pussification. I’m worried for you. I can guarantee you won’t hear an Aussie boo-hooing about a little aggression in their champions! Good g-d, where’d the Celtic iron in you guys go anyway?! Too much inbreeding with the white-flagged Gauls across the channel, no doubt.
I know y’all care a little smidge about that World Cup, so remember this: no aggression, no champion, no win, no World Cup. And if that don’t make you cry in your Guiness…
The Ditzy Twits, Ditzier Than Ever
June 17, 2006
Why do we even bother talking about them?
Easy. It’s fun pointing our fingers at the little bleached bimbos, laughing at their misery and mocking their moronitude beyond all decency. Like when they say “patriotism? Who needs it?”
When Maines made her comment on March 10 2003, 10 days before Operation Iraqi Freedom unleashed “shock and awe” over Baghdad, the Dixie Chicks were probably the biggest act in country music. Yet within days, their music vanished from the charts and the airwaves, apoplectic rednecks crushed piles of their CDs with tractors, and the FBI was feverishly monitoring death threats against the trio. It was the most heinous pop-star outrage since Ozzy Osbourne urinated on the Alamo.
“The reaction was as if Natalie had said ‘Death to the President’ or something,” says violinist and vocalist Maguire.
Or maybe it was as if she’d stood up in the middle of a war, on stage, on foreign soil, taking a dump all over her Commander-in-Chief and proclaiming that she was ashamed to even be from the same State as he. All to please and pander to the EUroweenie crowd, of course. In other words, the reaction was one of utter disgust.
“It was the bullying and the scare factor,” shudders banjo and guitar player Robison. “It was like the McCarthy days, and it was almost like the country was unrecognisable.”
The McCarthy days that Robison remembers so very well, having not even been born then. But hey, it’s something that her liberal friends like to scream and bellow every time anybody disagrees with them, so it must be true. Like some secret moonbat mantra or something, right? Whenever a liberal has been babbling for a while, I invariably get the urge to offer them a cracker for some reason.
“McCarthy!” “Squashing of dissent!” “Waaaaah!”
In Iraq, the Iraq that existed before the President that the Ditzy Twits are so ashamed of gave the order to stop the genocide, “squashing of dissent” meant throwing people into plastic shredders, raping little girls to death and feeding their corpses to the dogs etc. etc., so pardon me if the fact that nobody wants to buy your junk anymore fails to make the needle on my Sympathy Meter twitch.
The Chicks can’t hide their disgust at the lack of support they received from other country performers.
Sure. It’s their sacred duty to commit career suicide and piss on their nation’s flag just because you do.
“A lot of artists cashed in on being against what we said or what we stood for because that was promoting their career, which was a horrible thing to do,” says Robison.
Sure. Everything those other artists who stood by their nation in times of war were just doing it to protect their careers because, obviously, they couldn’t possibly disagree with you silly cows, seeing as how you’re infallible and all. Once again it’s proven: Talent is inversely proportional to ego. The less of the former, the more of the latter.
“A lot of pandering started going on, and you’d see soldiers and the American flag in every video. It became a sickening display of ultra-patriotism.”
Pandering? Well, you are an authority on the subject, considering how you could barely wait to get out of the country to pander to the EUroweasels. And nothing sums you airheaded poodles up better than the fact that you find patriotism sickening. Not as sickening as we find the fact that you have U.S. passports, but such is life. It doesn’t always make sense.
“The entire country may disagree with me, but I don’t understand the necessity for patriotism,” Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. “Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country… I don’t see why people care about patriotism.”
What can one possibly add to that? It’s basically self-Fisking.
“Sure, we like our lives and we like the place we live, but why should we stand up for it when it’s attacked? It’s not like it required actual sacrifice or hard work to create it in the first place, nor is it going anywhere. It’s just something that we’re entitled to and will always have.”
The “ME!” generation in a nutshell.
Completely and utterly useless, a total waste of DNA, a bunch of lazy, self-centred cowards that could die off tomorrow and nobody would notice that they were gone. They don’t contribute, all they do is demand.
Worthless.
TruthOut(TheWindow).org “Stands Down”
June 16, 2006
Greetings. You may wonder what on Earth is going on here (at least you might if you ever bother to check bylines), so allow us to inform you:
This website has been assimilated into the Glorious Empire of His Darkness, Darth Misha I. All resistance is futile. Do not pay attention to the Stormtroopers behind the curtains. Don’t antagonize them either. They have itchy trigger fingers and notoriously bad aim. Regular Sith Indoctrination Programming will resume shortly, meaning “as soon as the incompetent boobs in the A/V department get their act together”, which may or may not be this century.
Seriously, though. We’ve been asked to pick up the slack for the kind ladies normally running this site while they’re busy doing other things, and who can say “no” to them? Not us, that’s for sure.
So what better than to point fingers and laugh at the idiots at TruthOut.org who have finally, after having assured us for a month that Karl Rove had already been indicted on May 12th, decided that maybe they didn’t merely get out “in front” of the news cycle (of violence?), they also managed to get themselves run over by it and are now little more than whimpering roadkill, twitching in the throes of agony prior to breathing their last.
Yesterday, most Mainstream Media organizations published reports about a letter supposedly received by Karl Rove’s attorney Robert Luskin.
What tipped the journalistic eagles at TruthOut.org off to this was the fact that Mr. Luskin was the one stating to the press what was in the letter that he’d received. Undoubtedly there is a more sinister explanation (involving Halliburton, we’re sure), but we’re all going to have to wait for the real explanation until they can wake Jason Leopold up from his drunken stupor.
As an example of the supposed letter’s contents, TIME Magazine stated that, “Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald said or wrote, ‘Absent any unexpected developments, he does not anticipate seeking any criminal charges against Rove.’”
So far, Mr. Fitzgerald hasn’t denied any of this, but that’s most likely because he’s locked up in a sound-proofed room in the basement of Karl Rove’s dark fortress.
Truthout of course published an article on May 13 which reported that Karl Rove had in fact already been indicted.
The day before, no less, which undoubtedly came as a huge surprise to Mr. Rove. Why doesn’t anybody ever tell him anything?
Obviously there is a major contradiction between our version of the story and what was reported yesterday.
Other than the fact that not only had Karl Rove not been indicted on May 12, he’s not ever going to be? Don’t be so hard on yourselves.
In that Mr. Luskin has chosen the commercial press as his oracle - and they have accepted - we call upon those publications to make known the contents of the communiqué which Luskin holds at the center of his assertions.
Why? Can’t you just ask one of Jason Leopold’s unimpeachable, high level, Sooper Sekrit Sources? Or did he forget his little black book at the Rainbow Club last week?
Quoting only those snippets that Mr. Luskin chooses to characterize in his statements is not enough. If Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald has chosen to exonerate Mr. Rove, let his words - in their entirety - be made public.
Hey, here’s another brilliant idea from somebody who isn’t nearly the journalistic wonderboy that Jason Leopold obviously is: How about calling Mr. Fitzgerald and asking him if he has any comments on the veracity of Mr. Luskin’s statement?
You can send us the check later. No, we don’t offer consulting services for free.
Mr. Leopold did not act alone in his reporting of this matter. His work, sources and conclusions were reviewed carefully at each step of the process. There is no indication that Mr. Leopold acted unethically.
Unless, of course, you consider slandering and libeling somebody in public just to get a “scoop” unethical, of course, which liberal “news” outlets never did. But it’s awfully big of you to come out and admit that you’re all responsible for this screwup, not just Jason Leopold.
Please keep in mind that over the years we have reported on many examples of individuals being scapegoated in crisis situations by superiors seeking cover from controversy. Truthout, however, does not do scapegoats.
Unless they happen to be named “Karl Rove”, of course.
And we stand firmly behind Jason Leopold.
Way, way behind him, should the proverbial shit really hit the fan. Of that we’re sure.
As journalists, nothing is more critical to being able to report guarded facts than the guarantee of confidentiality we provide to our sources.
Particularly when the guarded facts in question aren’t, well, facts.
Truthout has never compromised the identy of a confidential source. We will protect our sources on this story, as we have on every other story we have ever published.
Probably a good idea at this point. Citing the voices in Jason’s head as sources wouldn’t do much to salvage whatever reputation you might have left.
Expect a more comprehensive accounting of this matter on Monday, June 19.

Fun With Idiots, Part 2
June 12, 2006
In light of the smackdown that Julie Banderas gave to piece-of-trash Shirley Phelps-Roper on FOX, I figured I’d send the old bags an email and see if they answered. What I got was, in a word, priceless.
Warning: Long post ahead. But oh, it’s good.
Army Officer Refuses Orders
June 7, 2006
1Lt. Ehren Watada will announce today his intentions to refuse his orders to deploy to Iraq.
Anti-war info: thankyoult.org
His father is very proud of him, anti-war advocates are flocking to his aid, and he’s got a legal team ready and waiting in the wings for when he makes his intentions official at coordinated press conferences today. He’s on a Sheehan trajectory to fame.
Lt. Ehren Watada of the Stryker Brigade writes, “I refuse to be silent any longer. I refuse to watch families torn apart, while the President tells us to ‘stay the course.’ I refuse to be party to an illegal and immoral war against people who did nothing to deserve our aggression.
“I wanted to be there for my fellow troops. But the best way was not to help drop artillery and cause more death and destruction. It is to help oppose this war and end it so that all soldiers can come home.” - signed LT.
I guess “Duty, Honor, Country” means nothing to 1Lt. Watada. He’s a soldier - government issue - and he gave up his right to pick and choose his battles a long time ago. A subjectively labeled “unpopular war” is not a reasonable excuse by any military standard. I’m sure that in some warped way, LT Watada believes he is remaining true to his own version of honor, which apparently supercedes the oath he took when commissioned. That’s not honorable in my book. There’s no doubt that he has forgotten the meaning of Duty, and he’s certainly an embarrassment to his Country. Well, at least the part that is red.
Anybody want to make a bet on how soon he’ll join the Cindy Sheehan circus train? After the court martial and prison time, that is…
UPDATE: Who’s jumping on the Watada bandwagon? These stellar activist groups, among others:
-
International Socialist Organization
Iraq Veterans Against the War
Not in Our Name
Atlanta Anarchy and Leftist Group
World Can’t Wait - Hawai`i Chapter
After Downing Street
UPDATE 2: Heh. The thankyouLT.org website crashed as of 1151.
UPDATE 3: The activist inspired and founded website, thankyoult.org, is still down at 1640, but this time with a “Still Under Development” sign. Dang. I wish I’d taken screen shots. I’ll just bet his “legal team waiting in the wings” is behind this.
The Most Ridiculous Phrase You’ll Hear All Weekend
June 3, 2006
…is right here.
FORT MEADE, Md. – A military jury sentenced an Army dog handler to 90 days of hard labor and a reduction in rank today for allowing his Belgian shepherd to bark within inches of an Iraqi detainee’s face at Abu Ghraib prison.
90 days of hard labor and a reduction in rank for letting his dog bark within inches of a detainee’s face.
You’ve got to be kidding me.
I can see if the dog ripped off the guy’s tallywhacker or something…but barking? Grow up, lefties.
Hillary Clinton: Right Wingers to Blame for Abortion
May 19, 2006
Check out this contorted logic from the *cough* Smartest Woman In The World:
2008 White House hopeful Hillary Clinton is blaming right wing “ideologues” for denying women access to contraceptives - leaving them no choice but to end their unwanted pregnancies with abortion.
The move to withhold contraceptives “was started by a small group of extreme ideologues who claim the right to impose their personal beliefs on the overwhelming majority of the American people,” Clinton declared in an e-mail to supporters on Wednesday.
“They’re waging this silent war on contraception by using the power of the White House and their right-wing allies in Congress,” she complains, adding, “and so far, they’re getting away with it.”
So just how are these right wing ideologues driving up the abortion rate? Clinton explains:
“Low-income women, denied access to contraception, are having more unwanted pregnancies - four times as many as those for higher income women. And almost half of all unwanted pregnancies end in abortions.”
The former first lady didn’t explain, however, why - in places like New York City, where high school nurses’ offices distribute candy-flavored condoms - the abortion rate continues to soar.
Wow. She’s so smart, she doesn’t make any sense to us mere mortals.
I’d like to note that, according to Hillary, it appears that the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy has apparently shrunk to a Small Group Of Extreme Idealogues.
Man Urinates on War Memorial
May 19, 2006
He has to write a letter of apology. Sorry, not good enough. Maybe we could have Chuck Norris visit him.
BARBERTON, Ohio — A Barberton man who urinated on a war memorial will have to write a letter of apology.
Bernard Park, 23, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of illegal behavior in a public park.
Police arrested Park on Sunday after officers got a call about a man relieving himself on the Veterans War Memorial in Lake Anna Park on Park Avenue.
Park admitted to the urinating on the memorial, saying, “I really had to go,” a police report stated.
Judge Greg Macko ordered Park to write an apology to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also fined him $100 and suspended a 30-day jail sentence.
“I really had to go”???? This is his excuse? What a worthless piece of trash.
Help Stop SB 1437: Mandated Gay Curriculum in CA Schools
May 18, 2006
**Scroll for updates**
In case you’re not familiar with this bill yet, I’ll help you out. SB 1437, authored by an openly lesbian California Dem, is a bill designed to put mandatory pro-gay curriculum in public schools.
SB 1437 is a sexual-agenda bomb dressed up as a child-caring Easter egg. Lesbian legislators such as the bill’s author, Sheila James Kuehl, a Santa Monica Democrat, would have you believe that SB 1437 merely updates school anti-discrimination policies. To that end, the bill incorporates the explosive terms “gender†(which includes transsexuality and transvestitism) and “sexual orientation†(meaning bisexuality and homosexuality) in a long list of anti-discrimination clauses.
But the bill is ultimately about requiring transsexual, bisexual, and homosexual textbooks, instruction, and school activities – because not promoting these sexual lifestyles would “reflect adversely†on them…
Before you get all liberal on me, let’s think about this for a moment. These people (and th
