Soldier’s Angels: Katrina Relief For Military Families
August 31, 2005
Hurricane Katrina has devastated New Orleans and South Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. The homes and lives of an untold number of our friends and families have been decimated. Included in the ranks of victims are the family members of our soldier’s serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Many of these soldiers will be returning home in the next few weeks to find that their families have been displaced and their homes and businesses destroyed.
Soldier’s Angels Operation AC (Operation Air Conditioner ) have established a relief fund to help our soldiers and their families cope with and recover from this devastation. Your donation will help these families obtain essential personal items, temporary shelter and any other needs that can be met. Soldier’s Angels will also work to provide information to the soldiers concerning their families whereabouts and needs. Now is the time to help protect those who have given up so much to protect us.
Go HERE to learn how to help.
A commenter on Blackfive added this helpful information on how to help Veterans (all donations are tax deductible - in addition to Soldiers Angels):
The VFW is centering its relief efforts on monetary donations because clothing, food and building-materials drives will cause logistical problems.
“The best way that we can help is through direct donations to the Department Headquarters of Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. Donation checks need to be clearly marked for disaster relief, ” he added. “With your help, the VFW can play an important role in assisting those who have been hurt by this weather-related disaster.”

Baghdad Stampede - The Running Of The Shi’ites
August 31, 2005
This is not funny, people. I only laughed out loud because I thought it was another “crazy Islam” satire - honestly, I did. But it is not a joke - this really happened. And now I feel really bad about laughing. I know I’ve got a sensitivity chip around here somewhere…

The Vicious Cycle
August 31, 2005
Mudville has a great example of the vicious circle that goes around and around in Iraq and here at home: Terrorist leaders watch US news. Terrorist leaders tell the terrorists under them how to shape their operations to have the most damage - not just in Iraq, but here at home where their helpers in the Left are. The Left and the media respond perfectly. And then it’s the terrorists turn to see the coverage of the Left’s whining and troublemaking…and it all starts again. Tell me again why we don’t deport these leftist freaks or charge them with treason or sedition?
Call To Action: Instapundit Mass Delinking
August 30, 2005
Several conservative blogs are calling for all right-oriented blogs to delink Instapundit, one of the most high-profile blogs on the internet, in light of this post. Owner Glenn Reynolds called outspoken disagreement and “demonization”of the ACLU “a bit silly”. He goes on:
I do feel that they’ve become overly partisan in recent years, but they still do good work (I’ve worked with them in the past, on the New Orleans rave case for example, and will probably do so again.)
Is Glenn making nice-nice for the sake of popularity? I know he’s got to be more intelligent than to actually think the ACLU is good for anything, or that their goals have anything to do with what conservatives believe in. How can any conservative worth his or her salt see the ACLU as anything besides what it is - a lions’ den of leftist thought that makes it a point to attack anything good and true and right. They are anti-American, anti-truth, anti-good. They are, quite literally, an evil organization. They support child molesters, approve of the “homosexualization” of the United States, and fight for everything sane people with morals are against. They support CAIR, the American version of al Qaeda. (If that’s not enough to tell you there’s a problem here, then you need to read this blog more.) In almost any court case that makes conservatives want to bang their heads against a wall, chances are good that the ACLU was involved.
Perhaps even more disturbing is this post. A reader emailed Reynolds to say basically “You just lost another reader because of your remarks.” Reynolds’ reply?
That’s okay — there are plenty of blogs out there, and this guy would clearly be happier somewhere else.
Someone’s a bit big for their britches, perhaps. And maybe delinking him won’t do a thing, but it’s the principle. I refuse to link to a blog that supports the ACLU - I don’t care how popular or “big” they are, or how small I am in relation.
Jay from Stop the ACLU had this to say:
Any conservative blogger who has kept track of the ACLU’s trends, and paid attention to the organizations and causes that they support can see that they are against everything conservatives stand for. I hope all conservative bloggers decide to stand up and be counted on this.
Here’s a partial list of blogs that are now delinking Instapundit in protest:
I’m trying to get more information about blogs jumping on board, and will be updating the list as the story develops. If you would like to have your name listed, email me at kit.jarrell at gmail dot com or leave a trackback on this post. [If you haven't had a link to Instapundit up to now, that's fine. The point is simply that you refuse to link to him, in protest of his pro-ACLU stand.]
Thanks to Junkyard Blog.
Linked to Basil’s Supper, Outside the Beltway’s Traffic Jam
Update: Apparently Reynolds is pro-cloning, as well.
UPDATE 2: More blogs linked above. Also, Jay at Stop the ACLU got himself an Instalanche, for delinking the Instapundit. Irony is alive and well. As you can see from the post, Glenn Reynolds is taking about the same approach to this as he did to the reader (who comments below) who dared to call him on it. In his own words to that reader, “Don’t let the monitor hit you on the way out.”
UPDATE 3: Blogcritics had an oh-so-nice article highlighting our stand. Of course, they ridicule it all to hell, but that’s okay. I refuse to support a website that in turn supports the ACLU and its terrorist-loving activity. I refuse to support a website that is pro-gay marriage. I refuse to support a website that supports human cloning. It’s my right, and it’s that simple.
Of course, liberals (and some conservatives) have accused us of being “lockstepped” and having a Fuehrer, etc. but the truth is, I’m just exercising my right to protest. They know all about that, don’t they?
Germans: Katrina Is America’s Fault
August 30, 2005
I was sarcastically saying to my husband, “I wonder how many collections will be taken up around the world for the devastated states of Mississippi and Lousiana?” I already know the answer, of course - few, or more likely: none. No matter, we Americans can take care of our own.
As cynical as my assumption may be, I was still completely unprepared for the vitriol of blame to start so early, before we’ve even counted our dead…
Germany’s Environmental Minister, Jürgen Trittin, a Green Party member, bash[es] US President George W. Bush’s environmental laxity. He begins by likening the photos and videos of the hurricane stricken areas to scenes from a Roland Emmerich sci-fi film and insists that global warming and climate change are making it ever more likely that storms and floods will plague America and Europe. “There is only one possible route of action,” he writes. “Greenhouse gases have to be radically reduced and it has to happen worldwide. Until now, the US has kept its eyes shut to this emergency. (Americans) make up a mere 4 percent of the population, but are responsible for close to a quarter of emissions.” He adds that the average American is responsible for double as much carbon dioxide as the average European. “The Bush government rejects international climate protection goals by insisting that imposing them would negatively impact the American economy. The American president is closing his eyes to the economic and human costs his land and the world economy are suffering under natural catastrophes like Katrina and because of neglected environmental policies.” As such, Trittin also calls for a reworking of the Kyoto Protocol — dubbing it the uncreative title of “Kyoto 2″ — and insisting that the US be included.
So, Katrina is our fault…and W’s.
UPDATE: RFK Jr. is whining for the Dems, saying that the “anti-kyoto” and “anti-environmental” stances of the Mississippi governor caused Katrina. At least RFK Jr’s following in his family’s footsteps as a Democrat idiot. Anyone taking bets on how long it takes him to get brought up on rape charges, public drunkenness, a drug problem, or a car accident?
Next Stop for Cindy and the Marxist Crew: Protesting US Navy Blue Angels
August 30, 2005
Cindy and her merry band of media are stopping off in Brunswick, Maine, on September 10th to protest the NAS Brunswick airshow. The airshow features the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, a flight demonstration team that is almost as good as the USAF Thunderbirds (ha! Had to get that in there). This story is enough to make you vomit, if you haven’t already. (thanks, Duncan.)
From the Farking Marxist Idiots “Veterans For Peace” website [my rrmarks in brackets]:
On Sat., Sept. 10th, Maine Veterans for Peace will be joined by other major peace and justice groups (see list of co-sponsors below) in a massive protest:
. to protest the false god idolatry of the Blue Angels Air Show, whose “ooh-&-aah”performances have one purpose: to promote badly-lagging military recruitment to protest the obscene waste of American tax dollars to stage these Blue Angels’ multi-million dollar extravaganzas [False God idolatry? Since when does the left give a ragging rat's bloody rectum about God? This is so stupid it would be laughable if it wasn't so dangerous. "Waste of American tax dollars"? No, idiots, that's the ACLU.]
. to protest Bush’s immoral, monomaniacal Iraq war — nearly 1,800 U.S. and
100,000 Iraqi civilians dead, at a cost of over $300 billion, and still counting ['monomaniacal'? Now that's a big word for a liberal. I wonder if they can spell 'beheading', or maybe 'saving your ass'. As for the immoral part of it, come on. These are the people that think porn should be available to everyone, child molestors are protected under the 1st Amendment, and murder is legal as long as the person isn't born yet. They've got about as much right to talk about immorality as Saddam Hussein.]. to protest NASB’s complicity with the war machine, providing surveillance aircraft to target ground forces, which in the end cause horrendous “collateral damage” [I love how it's in quotes. "Complicity with the war machine"? You mean, "a military installation that trains and produces military personnel and military equipment for military action"? You mean a military that's keeping your ungrateful and unworthy ass free?]
. to challenge NASB to convert to peaceful purposes, creating good-paying high-tech/industrial jobs, making products that improve lives, not end them [peaceful purposes. Hm. I know! Let's turn it into a Muslim school where all the little leftist traitors can send their kids. Or maybe it can be Naval Air Station PansyAss. It won't be doing anything productive for getting us out of Iraq by finishing the job, but they can grow some flowers in the ghetto and teach pre-teens how to make babies and give blow jobs.]
Of course, the greatest media whore of the year will be there, getting “fixed up” before each and every scripted, fake, ridiculous media moment.
You know, I sit here and I watch that idiot parade her dead son in front of the country claiming he died for lies and Bushiburton and whatever else. And I’ll tell you something, Cindy Sheehan. You want to talk about dying needlessly? Try watching your son die in your arms after he’s born, of an internal birth defect. Bury him and mourn him, and then find out that he was misdiagnosed and never had to die at all. That’s how my son died. Every day I think of him, and every day I wish that I could say “My son died defending and protecting his country.” But no, he died because a doctor screwed up and I didn’t know until it was too late.
That is a needless death. Your son died a hero’s death. There’s a big damn difference.
—————–
UPDATE: Captain Chuck Ziegenfuss, injured in Iraq, is currently at Walter Reed Hospital, and he has some choice words for the protestors. If you wondered how the wounded soldiers feel, this is it.
I would much rather that people showed up there with baseball bats and beat them to a bloody pulp, and then showed up the next day and beat any survivors to a bloody pulp. On the third day, collect up anyone that still shows up, and give them a hug for their dedication to their beliefs. Then club them like a baby harp seal on coat-making day. These shitbags are little more than the people who protested as men came home from Vietnam after serving their country.
Infiltrators From Camp Casey Tell The REAL Story
August 30, 2005
Curt Loftis, a man down at Crawford ‘checking out the place’, writes:
Most of the Sheehan protesters were either professional (paid staff of Fenton Communications or the radical organization Code Pink or the like), or were long time protesters, some admitting to beginning vigils against the government as early as 1965. I had conversations with approximately 50 of these people over 48 hours, and all seemed like interesting and engaging people. We talked sports, and cars and how wonderful California is, and just about everything that could be discussed without my divulging that I am a conservative. But when “scratched†just a little with some mild political talk, they all responded the same way…â€it is Americas faultâ€. No matter what the issue, each and every one of them had the same default…â€bad things are America’s faultâ€.
Interview with Lt. Gen. Hal Moore
August 30, 2005
If you’ve seen the movie We Were Soldiers, about the bloody battle in Ia Drang in Vietnam, then you know who Hal Moore is. Soldiers For the Truth interviewed him about his feelings on the current war, and why women should not be in combat. The editor also has some very interesting notes about the Israeli Defense Force’s use (or lack) of women in combat roles. Interestingly enough, the main problem Moore spoke about with the current war was repeated tours.
“I am very concerned about the status of the Army right now. How it is being employed now. I am concerned about repeated tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan; concerned about the heavy usage of National Guard and Reserve forces, and I am fearful that if this is not rectified the Army is being - could become - broken,” Moore began.
[...]
“They are gone for a year or so and then in a year or even six months they are gone again. It has a terrible affect on family life. We have all heard about the Army losing trained officers and sergeants because of this. The NCOs are the very heart and core of the Army, Moore said. ” We lost a lot of experienced non-commissioned officers because of their commitment in Vietnam. Most served at least one and sometimes two tours in Vietnam. Then it was ‘either the Army or me.’ We lost a lot of great sergeants because they were vulnerable.”
Read the whole article - it’s only Part 1 of what proves to be a great series and a great interview with one of the best soldiers and commanders of our time.
Campus “Radicals” Giving Military Students A Hard Time
August 30, 2005
From the “We Knew You Were Lying” department comes this story about military heroes who trade the battlefield for college campus - and find that they’re still right in the middle of a war.
National Review Online explains just what our brave young heroes are facing as they come off the frontlines in Iraq.
“A woman on campus had apparently learned I might be a Marine. When I told her I was, she said, ‘You’re a disgusting human being, and I hope you rot in hell!’ â€
Indeed, Martinez, who will be the first male in his family to receive a college diploma, says he is receiving more of an education than he bargained for: “There are a lot of people who don’t appreciate military service in college,†Martinez said. “If someone asks me about it, and I think that they’re not too liberal, I might tell them I was in Iraq. But I don’t tell them the full extent of it or anything about the Navy Cross.â€
Did you catch that? He’s a Navy Cross recipient. In At Tarmiya, one of the Marines with Martinez was hit in the legs and left for dead. The five terrorists who had wounded him were in a garden shed. Martinez used his body to shield the mortally wounded Marine, and then charged 20 meters at the shed armed with nothing but a depleted rifle and a grenade. Through some act of God, the enemy bullets pinging off Martinez’s gear never actually hit him. Martinez threw his body up against the shed, pulled the pin, and threw it in the window, killing all five terrorists inside.
Martinez received the nation’s second highest honor for his actions. That is a big deal. And yet, this incredibly brave Marine doesn’t tell people about it because they’ll tell him to rot in hell. That is disgusting.
Consider also the story of Marine Corporal Armand McCormick.
While walking to class one day, McCormick stopped to listen to a speaker during an antiwar student rally. When he challenged the protestor’s arguments, the “peace†activist sneered, “The Iraqis don’t want us there. If you think the war is okay, then why don’t you go and serve!â€
There was an obvious problem with the protestor’s retort: He had no clue who he was talking to — -Silver Star recipient Marine corporal Armand McCormick.
“I’ve had a few conversations about [the War on Terror] in the liberal classrooms I go to everyday,†said McCormick. “A lot of the time I just look at them and tell them that they don’t have any clue what they’re talking about, because all they do is listen to liberal news. I always tell them, ‘If you don’t experience something, how in the hell can you say what will happen?’ â€
As Corporal McCormick rightly points out, his classmates’ reliance upon the elite mainstream media all but ensures that they are unfamiliar with the jaw-dropping acts of heroism he performed on March 25, 2003, in Ad Diwuniyah, Iraq. Far removed from the breezy comforts of a college campus, it was there, inside an enemy trench, that McCormick, along with his two fellow Marines, captain Brian Chontosh and corporal Robert “Robbie†Kerman, was swarmed by what officials estimate was a company-sized element of between 150 to 200 Iraqi fighters. When the smoke cleared, the three marines had not only survived, they had eliminated scores of enemy fighters and regained key territory. It’s the sort of incident the campus Left should think about the next time it proclaims how “courageous†it is in protesting the war.
Reading this kind of thing makes me so incredibly angry. Our soldiers and Marines should be coming home to parades and tickertape and ceremonies honoring their character, their devotion, and their sacrifice. Instead, we have Marine heroes coming home and feeling as though they need to hide what they did. There is no excuse. I challenge everyone attending college - if you see a veteran, make sure to say thank you. It’ll mean the world to them. You never know how many times they may have been spit on that day by some pansy-assed, whining, treehugging, unshaven, Commie-loving, freedom-hating, unhygienic, pseudo-intelligent, unsavory Marxist freak dressed in tight pink jeans and wearing freaking pink ass nail polish even though he’s a freaking male who doesn’t deserve the freedom that Marine bought him.
Every time I meet a fellow veteran, I am, in some small way, awed by their service. I’m interested in where they served, who they were with, when they went. I want to know stories about what they experienced. I want to know how they felt about what they did, what they remember the most. Most importantly, I want them to know how incredibly grateful I am, how incredibly proud that my country has men and women willing to stand up when they hear the question “Who will go?”
“I am here. Send me,” they say. And that’s more than any anti-war protestor has ever done.

A National Emergency Worthy Of Impeachment
August 30, 2005
Two governors have declared a state of emergency due to the chaos their states are suffering from illegal immigration. On Aug. 12, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson declared a state of emergency “due to a chaotic situation involving illegal alien smuggling and illegal drug shipments” on his southern border. Three days later, Gov. Janet Napolitano followed suit in Arizona.
In a precisely worded essay, plain language about illegal immgration in not cloaked in political correctness, nor are apologies made for the strongly-worded charge of negligence aimed at our national leaders. The author doesn’t mince words, as he knows that time is slipping away as the problems esacalate and the shameful neglect of our leaders allows an emergency of crises proportions:
What is true of New Mexico and Arizona is true of our nation, which is now home to an estimated 10 million to 15 million aliens who have broken our laws and broken into our country. It is a mark of the cowardice of our leaders that they are so terrified of being called “bigots” they tolerate this criminality. The moral rot of political correctness runs deep today in both national parties.
A president like Teddy Roosevelt would have led the Army to the border years ago. And if Fox did not cooperate, T.R. would have gone on to Mexico City. Nor would Ike, who deported all illegal aliens in 1953, have stood still for this being done to the country he had defended in war.
The balkanization of America is a very real possibility:
The question of whether America is going to remain one nation, or whether our Southwest will wind up as a giant Kosovo – separated by language and loyalty from the rest of America – is on the table.
Where is our elected leader?
Where is Bush? All wrapped up in the issue of whether women in Najaf will have the same rights in divorce and custody cases as women in Nebraska. His legislative agenda for the fall includes a blanket amnesty for illegals, so they can be exploited by businesses who want to hold wages down as they dump the social costs for their employees – health care, schools, courts, cops, prisons – onto taxpayers.
Not only have Richardson and Napolitano awakened – they are on the front lines – so, too, has Hillary Clinton, who has spoken out against illegal immigration with a forthrightness that makes Bush sound like a talking head for La Raza.
It’s not politically correct to state the facts out loud:
Most of these illegals come to work to send money back to their families. They are not bad people. But because they are predominantly young and male, they commit a disproportionate share of violent crimes.
Why should U.S. citizens be assaulted, robbed, raped and murdered, and have their children molested, because their government will not enforce its own laws?
Is this not an indictment of democracy itself? What dictatorial regime would put up with this?
And this is the sole reason why I am no longer a registered Republican:
The Republican Party claims to be a conservative party. But what kind of conservative is it who, to cut a few costs or make a few bucks, will turn his family’s home into a neighborhood flop house?
In a recent poll, 40 percent of Mexicans – 40 million people – said they would like to come to the United States, and 20 percent expressed a willingness to break in. Time to cut the babble about how NAFTA is going to solve the problem. This is a national emergency.
Nothing has gotten Bush’s attention thus far, not in five years of office. There may be only one thing left that will cut through the noise:
Twice, George Bush has taken an oath to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Article IV, Section 4 of that Constitution reads, “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion.”
Well, we are being invaded, and the president of the United States is not doing his duty to protect the states against that invasion. Some courageous Republican, to get the attention of this White House, should drop into the hopper a bill of impeachment, charging George W. Bush with a conscious refusal to uphold his oath and defend the states of the Union against “invasion.”
It may be the only way left to get his attention, before the border vanishes and our beloved country dissolves into MexAmerica, what T.R. called a “polyglot boarding house for the world.”

You Can Use The F-word In Class (But Only Five Times)
August 30, 2005
In the UK, a secondary school is going to allow pupils to swear at teachers - as long as they don’t do so more than five times in a lesson. A running tally of how many times the f-word has been used will be kept on the board. If a class goes over the limit, they will be ’spoken’ to at the end of the lesson.
Here’s the reward/punishment system: if the kids ‘do bad’- they’ll get talked to. If that doesn’t freak them out…I don’t know what will! If they ‘do good’ - they’ll get a praise postcard mailed to their home. Yeah, that’s an incentive for kids these days - a postcard!
Of course, the parents and police are against this policy - because it makes NO SENSE whatsoever - but the school remains convinced that if they give the kids an inch, they will ‘think about’ and decide against taking the mile. Now what are the odds of that?!
I’ll bet that the kids will get their five allotted F-words out of the way within the first…oh…say 10 seconds. The teacher will dutifully and briskly note the five allotted F-words on the board. Whoops - now the kids will have to get ’spoken to’ after class. Hilarity will ensue! With that dreaded punishment confirmed the kid will go crazy and the sad-sack tecahers will spend more time noting F-words on the board than teaching.
