Fallen SEALs Recovered

June 30, 2005

The military has recovered all 16 bodies from the chopper crash in Afghanistan earlier this week. Included in the fallen are 8 Navy SEALs - an entire squad. A heartbroken Matt at Froggy Ruminations has the insider details, and took the time to pen something that brought tears to my eyes:

One thing that I think is important to point out is the incredible bravery and heroism of the SOF operators involved here. Imagine being in a small group of operators reporting the activities of an enemy force 25 to 30 times your strength deep behind enemy lines. Well, our SOF operators don’t have to imagine it, they do that every day. Imagine going in to rescue your embattled recon team facing 100 or more enemy fighters in a helo with 7 to 10 other SEALs in a high mountain pass in the middle of nowhere probably at night. Well, that’s what my brothers were about to do when their aircraft took fire. Recognize that every one of these men know that if captured, they will be peeled like an onion by the savage heathen scumbags that it is their job to annihilate. Think about that.

I don’t know about you, but as I wrote that, a chill went up my spine. While this incident is a terrible tragedy, it underscores the deep commitment of the American fighting man to defend this nation, and the incredible intrepidy of our SOF operators. This Independence Day weekend, take a minute and hoist a cold one for our boys. Because it is these men serving our nation around the world for the past 229 years that have made your BBQ possible.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Matt is awaiting word on the identity of the fallen men. Stop by and show your support and prayers. My heart also goes out to the Air Force personnel killed in the crash, for obvious reasons. May God bless their families in this time.

Another crappy cover-up… a la Bushicano

June 30, 2005

The Immigration Blog has a another eye-opener about the Bush administration’s efforts to manipulate data to disguise the fact that his immigration policies don’t work, they SUCK beyond compare, and are actually making the problem worse.

The day after Bush unveiled his AMNESTY PLAN (let’s just call a spade a spade, people) last year, a survey was conducted by Border Patrol agents of detained illegal crossers. Approximately 45% of the illegals said it was because of Bush’s plan, which was widely perceived as an amnesty. The survey only lasted three weeks before the administration cancelled it.

Judicial Watch, which filed suit last year to obtain the surveys, has received only 882 [of 1700] to date. Of those examined, it said:

* 45 percent said they crossed illegally based on rumors of an amnesty.

* 80 percent said they wanted to apply for amnesty.

* 66 percent hoped to petition for family members to join them in the United States.

In an attempt to cover-up the unfavorable findings of this survey, entitled “U.S. Border Patrol Survey Analysis”, the Adminsitration released an internal memo “White House Approved Talking Points”:

After President Bush unveiled his guest worker proposal last year, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials were ordered not to discuss a surge in apprehension of migrants trying to enter the country illegally.

“Do not talk about amnesty, increase in apprehensions, or give comparisons of past immigration reform proposals,” said the one-page Customs and Border Protection public affairs guidance, “White House Approved Talking Points Temporary Worker Program.”

“Do not provide statistics on apprehension spikes or past amnesty data,” the memo said.

You know what this reminds me of, of course: the infamous lock-down on the Arizona BP agents right after the Minutemen’s successful civilian border watch in April. The BP agents were told to not arrest or detain illegal crossers, so that the records would NOT prove the impact the Minutemen had on decreasing illegal border crossings (400-500%) in the month of April. That’s like waving a big white welcome flag over that 23-mile stretch of border for any terrorist wanting to enter the country with no worries whatsoever!! If that’s not just the shittiest national security blunder, I don’t know what is.

A Street-Fighter Mentality on Illegal Immigration

June 30, 2005

You all know about Save Our State (SOS) since I’ve written several big stories about their gritty efforts to confront pro-illegal immigration forces and Aztlan militants in California. As you’ve also seen from the ad hominem attacks by pro-Aztlan people here in our comments sections, SOS is accused of all kinds of heinous alliances with white supremacists and race hate groups. Though nothing could be further from the truth, I don’t even bother to rebutt such idiocy, considering the source. I don’t need to waste time arguing with dunder-heads who won’t even click their mouse a few times to do a little research, and learn the truth.

However, there are others of you who may still not know enough about the players involved in this front-line struggle in California. Let me introduce you to Joe Turner, president of SOS

After the second Baldwin Park rally, the LA Times wrote a full profilearticle on Joe Turner that was published on Monday. Joe, the 29 year old president of SOS, is a former stock trader who efficiently runs the organization from his home.

“My goal is to continually keep this issue in the forefront of the American consciousness,” he added. “What makes our organization different is that we are not afraid to confront anybody about our beliefs.”

But with little to show for years of complaining about illegal immigration, Turner believes he has hit upon a solution that will work. He calls it “aggressive activism.”

It’s not about writing letters or calling elected officials. Rather, the technique focuses on high-profile events that touch a nerve, make politicians sweat and bring the media running.

“I call it a street-fighter mentality,” said Turner, a stay-at-home dad and Little League coach. “Too often our side has been reactive. I need to get rid of apathy and create activism.”

Turner graduated in 1995 from Riverside’s North High School, where he made local headlines for a speech supporting Proposition 187, the 1994 initiative that sought to deny many public benefits to undocumented immigrants.

He earned a business degree in 2000 from USC and worked for a time as an equities trader in Chicago before returning to California and settling in Ventura in 2003 with his wife and two children.

With time on his hands and an ear on talk radio, Turner was spurred to action last year by controversy stemming from U.S. Border Patrol sweeps in the Inland Empire and by an on-air campaign on KFI-AM (640) to oust Rep. David Dreier (R-San Dimas) for what critics claimed was a lax record on illegal immigration.

In working on those issues, Turner said he met plenty of others fed up with illegal immigration and ready to do something about it.

“I realized how fragile the momentum was and I didn’t want to let that die,” said Turner, who launched Save Our State in July and counts hundreds from various ethnicities as members. “I wanted to do something. I just knew I had to get involved in some capacity.”

Save Our State has been protesting long and hard since incorporating last summer.

Members descended on Redondo Beach and picketed Home Depot stores for what they view as policies that encourage day workers to congregate at those sites. They’ve attended rallies backing last summer’s Border Patrol crackdown and joined protests over billboards for a Spanish-language TV news station that labeled “Los Angeles, CA” as “Los Angeles, Mexico.”

“Because the problem is getting worse and worse, people are getting angry,” said Save Our State member Chris Spellman, 34, an Alhambra resident of Mexican descent. He said his presence counters claims that the group is racist.

The group maintains a website where protests are promoted and strategies devised. The site, which has nearly 600 registered users, is visited by the opposition, often resulting in heated exchanges on its message boards. A link labeled the “Hall of Shame” features Latino leaders viewed by the group as soft on illegal immigration.

[Turner] said he is tired of politicians promising to clamp down on illegal immigration, then doing nothing about it. And he said he is increasingly alarmed by what he views as attempts by activists to launch “La Reconquista,” a theory that holds that militants of Mexican descent are plotting to take back California and other parts of the Southwest.

He sees illegal immigration as a means to that end, providing a population base that activists could exploit to achieve their takeover plans.

Turner said it angers him “when they say this land was stolen and it’s going to go back to Mexico,” Turner said. “You know what? You’re going to have to take me out first.”

Despite his youthful appearance, there is an air of confidence — even bravado — about Turner. He said he is willing to debate his opponents any time on the illegal immigration issue. And he is confident that he can push others off their couches and expand Save Our State into a nationwide movement.

“People who feel the way we do on this issue are hungering for someone who is going to take charge,” Turner said. “What I’m trying to do is send up a flag, to tell people, ‘I know you’re angry and I know you want to get involved, and here’s a way to do it.’”

Activist’s Evolution

• As a student at North High School in Riverside, Joseph Turner wrote editorials for the campus newspaper and spent a summer clerking for Republican Rep. Ken Calvert. His opinion pieces often were politically conservative, and he said many of them never got published.

• Putting his business degree from USC to work, Turner organized a protest of a Home Depot store in Rancho Cucamonga, calling for supporters to buy lots of small-ticket items — 7-cent washers and 8-cent screws — to clog the check stands and hurt the company’s bottom line. “You’ve got to be creative,” Turner said. “It’s one part activist, one part guerrilla tactician.”

• Turner once lived in Baldwin Park, the scene of Save Our State’s most heated protest to date. “That’s why I thought it was funny that everyone [the counter-protesters] was calling me an outsider,” he said.

New Mexican Stamp Is…Racist?!

June 30, 2005

So a number of weeks ago, Vicente Fox says out loud to the world, that illegal alien workers in the U.S. take jobs that “not even blacks want”. Offensive to most, the remark caused quite a stir here in the U.S. I wasn’t too surprised myself, because I’ve lived in Mexico, and have experienced it as one of THE most racist countries I’ve ever lived in or visited. You see, illegal aliens in Mexico (usually Central Americans) are hunted and beaten in the streets for daring to take jobs that should belong to Mexican citizens, and many permanently “disappear”. It’s common knowledge to everyone living there, no one needs to write a shocked comment claiming “that’s not true”- because it most definitely IS.

Fox’s publicly disparaging comment about blacks is not that shocking, because he’s only openly saying what most Mexicans really think. But now Mexico, sliding ever further backward, has issued a postage stamp depicting an exaggerated black cartoon character, known as Memin Pinguin.

The boy, hapless but lovable, is drawn with exaggerated features, thick lips and wide-open eyes. His appearance, speech and mannerisms are the subject of kidding by [Mexican] characters in the comic book.

Except, the cartoon boy doesn’t look like a boy at all…

Activists said the stamp was offensive, though officials denied it.

“One would hope the Mexican government would be a little more careful and avoid continually opening wounds,” said Sergio Penalosa, an activist in Mexico’s small black community on the southern Pacific coast.

“But we’ve learned to expect anything from this government, just anything,” Penalosa said.

It really does seem that Fox is losing the chic mojo that wildly ushered him into presidency in 2000. Five years later, he seems to be less forward-thinking, and is revealing more and more of an entrenched prejudice.

Ben Vinson, a black professor of Latin American history at Penn State University, said he has been called “Memin Pinguin” by some people in Mexico. He also noted that the character’s mother is drawn to look like an old version of the U.S. advertising character Aunt Jemima.

Yeah, there’s really no doubt that the cartoon character is stereotypically offensive. But here’s the spin on it from Mexico:

Publisher Manelick De la Parra [said] that the character would be sort of a goodwill ambassador on Mexican letters and postcards. “It seems nice if Memin can travel all over the world, spreading good news,” de la Parra said, calling him “so charming, so affectionate, so wonderful, generous and friendly.”

Heyyy…that sounds great…warm and fuzzy in a Santa Claus kind of way, even. Nice try spinning it, Mr. Parra, but no one will fall for that except the same people who think that propeller beanie-cap men in short-pants and suspenders are great comedic actors. (You’d have to live in Mexico to see those inexplicably popular slip-on-a-banana-peel sitcoms to know how god-awful stupid they are.)

But anyways, thanks, Mexico, for the public insight into the collective prejudice of your society. You all are so busy screaming “racist” whenever you feel an illegal alien isn’t receiving all of his “entitlements” in America, that you don’t even recognize your own societal prejucide. I think this is a classic case of you having a hissy fit over the splinter in our eye, when you don’t perceive the wooden beam in your own.

Lastly, I just need to say this and get it off my chest, “So STFU about racism already!”

We’re Sorry. Really.

June 28, 2005

I know we’ve been slacking, and we apologize. I’ve been sick, Heidi had a death in the extended family, and we’re both already working on two major stories. But just to show we really are working, here’s a hint of what we’re going to be showing you in the next few days:

Amn Bryan Roney is still slated to stand trial at the Air Force Base in Qatar a few weeks from now for his alleged theft of military property, wrongful possession of a controlled substance, consuming more than three alcoholic beverages in one day, and consuming them in an unauthorized area. As I reported before, he’s innocent. Not only is he not guilty of the charges, but the backstory on this one is right up there with the Pantano case for “oh my G-d are you freaking KIDDING?” factor.

Here’s just a few facts from the case:

1. According to statements I managed to finagle a copy of in the case from all witnesses involved, the case’s chief witness, A1C David Baker, was caught with alcohol in his shaving kit on a random room inspection. Although there’s no mention of any deals, Baker’s Letter of Reprimand hints at “mitigating cirumstances” that kept him from receiving an Article 15.

2. Roney’s assigned military defense counsel at Ramstein, Germany, was also the counsel for A1C Baker during his disciplinary actions as well, and simultaneously represented both of them unbeknownst to Roney, for a month. She claims she was not aware that the two cases were related, and that she had no idea there was a conflict of interest there.

3. Roney tested negative for both alcohol and drugs on the day he was questioned, which was only a few days after Baker claims his roommate, Amn Russell Hopko, gave Roney the morphine. Baker also claims he actually witnessed Roney taking the morphine. Hopko backs up Baker’s story, but somehow they can’t quite agree on all the facts.

There’s more - much more. I’ll be posting an in-depth story on this as soon as I can.

Also in the works is an even bigger story about someone you may already know. A well-known Vietnam vet and author has been under attack for almost a decade in the veteran community by a fellow vet who claims he is profiting by telling lies about his military service. Some of the issues on the table include lying about medals, alleged involvement in a fragging incident, and even a accusation of a coverup of an alleged ambush that killed unarmed rice porters in late 1968. Now the vet is taking his claims to the media. Are these allegations true? Or is the accuser off his rocker, as the author claims? We’ve done the research and now we’re writing the exclusive story. Stay tuned - we’ll present the facts, and you can decide.

“My dream was to be a suicide bomber”

June 28, 2005

Last week, I blogged on the Palestinian woman that tried to blow up her Israeli benefactors. Her case has been publicized to show that the terrorist threat is no less real despite a lull in the intifada since the Palestinian-Israeli ceasefire agreement at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit in February. So, here’s a follow up to that story with a few more details. It provides a keen look into the mind of a female suicide bomber…

The girl had big, brown eyes and her black hair was tied in a ponytail, but it was the strangeness of her gait that attracted the attention of the security officials at the Erez crossing, the main transit point between Israel and the Gaza Strip.

When a soldier asked her to remove her long, dark cloak, she turned to face him. All her movements were taped by the military surveillance camera at the checkpoint: calmly, deliberately, she took off her clothing, item by item, until she looked like any normal young woman in T-shirt and jeans. It was then that she tried to set off the belt containing 20lb of explosives hidden beneath her trousers. To her horror, she did not succeed. Desperate, she clawed at her face, screaming. She was still alive, she realised. She had failed her martyrdom mission.

As I reported in my earlier story on this woman, she was seriously scarred on her face and neck from a s0-called “kitchen explosion”. (I had my own opinions on how she got so badly burned, but discussed that earlier.) Such scarring made her prospects for marriage quite low, and without a prospective husband, made her a perfect would-be hurria (virgin) martyr. (Here is video of this young woman removing the explosives she was wearing.)

According to the Israeli doctor who attended Wafa at the Soroka Hospital in Beersheba, she received blood transfusions during her treatment. “I told her, with a laugh, that now she has Jewish blood in her veins,” he said, adding sadly that she had “seemed so nice - we got a lovely thank you letter from her family.”

It’s so sad that small acts of human kindness, which humanize the enemy and make their lives valuable, are constantly erased by acts of mass murder. Those kind acts could help build a foundation of trust and care between two enemy cultures, but are constantly undermined by the very benficiaries of such care and concern.

My dream was to be a martyr. I believe in death,” she said. “Today I wanted to blow myself up in a hospital, maybe even in the one in which I was treated. But since lots of Arabs come to be treated there, I decided I would go to another, maybe the Tel Hashomer, near Tel Aviv. I wanted to kill 20, 50 Jews …”

Asked whether she had considered the consequences of her planned attack, that it might have now precluded access to Israel for Palestinian patients who meant no harm and needed special medical treatment that could be achieved only here, she answered: “So what?” With a flat look in her eyes, she said: “They pay you the cost of the treatment, don’t they?”

And what about babies? Would you have killed babies and children? she was asked. “Yes, even babies and children. You, too, kill our babies. Do you remember the Doura child?”

There’s irony for you. The Doura child she is referring to was supposedly ruthlessly shot by Israeli troopers and died in his father’s arms in front of TV cameras. His crumpled image became a rallying symbol around the world of the intifada…except that the whole thing has been proven to be a public-relations scam - a made-for-TV event.

Then she started to cry. ”I don’t want my mother to see me like this. After all, I haven’t killed anyone … will they have pity on me?” It is unlikely. Wafa has become one of a very special group of females: the women who have tried - and failed - to die while killing for the Palestinian cause. I recently visited the Israeli jail that holds these “suicide women” near the finest Israeli villas, in the heart of the most fertile area of the country, the Plain of Sharon.

They are here, and still alive, because they changed their minds at the last moment, because they were arrested, or because, like Wafa, they did not succeed…

One of the inmates, Ayat Allah Kamil, 20, from Kabatya, told me why she had wanted to become a martyr: “Because of my religion. I’m very religious. For the holy war [jihad] there’s no difference between men and women shaid [martyrs].”

According to the Koran, male martyrs are welcomed to Paradise by 72 beautiful virgins. Ayat, as with many of the women she is incarcerated with, believes that a woman martyr “will be the chief of the 72 virgins, the fairest of the fair”.

Ok, so why doesn’t that sound so great to me? I get how fabulous the whole guy’s angle is - and why a bunch of young, hormonal radicals might thing it’s all worth it for their own harem of 72 virgins, but there’s NOTHING in it for the women! Is that really the best Islam can come up with for the women - you’ll be the top chick of 72 virgins? They get to be virgins for nothing except being cute, but you had to blow yourself to smithereens to be the cutest virgin. How is that motivation for any reasonably intelligent young woman?! I really don’t get it.

The original Telegraph article goes on to interview several female inmates - failed martyrs. They live in a twilight of regret and bitterness, some having given up their children to others to raise while they live the rest of their lives imprisoned, without the glory of martyrdom they desired. A Palestinian father, broken and alone after his daughter’s extremism, is approached by the author.

“Wafa’s father is still in a state of shock,” Wael said. “He wishes to say that he can’t bring himself to believe that his daughter was going to blow herself up. He believes that she was put up to it and exploited by someone and that it’s not fair that the whole Palestinian population should be punished for what she has tried to do. The Palestinians don’t have to pay for her act,” he added sadly.

Well, neither the Palestinian people nor the Israelis should have to pay for the fanatical acts of these extremists - but they do. It is a never-ending cycle of violence and death, fed by the actions of young Palestinians who say,”My dream is to be a suicide bomber. I want to kill 20, 50 Jews - yes, even babies and children...”

Exclusive: The Case Of Airman Bryan Roney

June 26, 2005

We’re at war, right? This means, we’ve got big fish to fry. Certainly bigger than the case of Bryan Roney, a 20-year-old airman from Illinois who’s being tried at special court-martial in a few weeks. Roney, normally stationed at Hill AFB in Utah, is currently in Qatar. His unit has gone home now, but he’s on administrative hold until the court-martial in early July.

What horrific act is Roney charged with? Not murdering “unarmed” combatants. Not mercy killing. Not even pointing and laughing at naked detainees.

Amn Bryan Roney is accused of stealing seven mini-bottles of Jack Daniels from the base lounge, drinking more than three drinks in a day, consuming alcohol in an unauthorized location, and wrongfully possessing morphine that was not prescribed to him. Two fellow airmen, a pair of roommates, have accused Roney of stealing the alcohol from the Desert Eagle Lounge, where Roney volunteered. The chief accuser claims Roney showed him the stash, which he says was rolled up in Roney’s sleeping bag in his wall locker. The accuser goes on to state that he and Roney drank the alcohol one night, and that his roommate gave Roney a morphine pill out of a bottle he was prescribed by a doctor.

Now let’s add another layer to the story - he’s innocent; accused by a pair of fellow airmen that have their own skeletons in the closet. Sound familiar?

In true ER fashion, we’ll be bringing you documents and interviews in the near future. Why? Because it matters. Sure, Roney is charged with something that in the civilian world doesn’t amount to much. But in the military, this is something that could ruin his career and change his life.

Stay tuned. There will be more on this case coming soon.

Missile Defense NOW!

June 26, 2005

When President Reagan pushed for a “Star Wars” defense system, critics laughed at the impossibility of such sci-fi nonsense. When President George W. Bush pushed for a missile defense program, opponents talked about the futility of trying to “hit a bullet with a bullet.” In addition to the outright denial of a technical solution to the problem of a missile attack, critics of such defense plans made many more excuses for not supporting such defensive programs. These paper-tiger arguments included statements like “The Cold War is over,” “this will break our anti-ballistic missile treaty with Russia,” and “it will ignite another arms race.” The majority of those spouting such arguments were liberals, who are anti-military no matter what the program. Not only are the arguments lame and the opposition to this important piece of our national defense ridiculous, it very well may lead to the destruction of the United States.

In a speech delivered on May 24, 2005, in Dallas, Texas, at a Hillsdale College National Leadership Seminar on the topic, “America’s War Against Islamic Terrorism,” Frank J. Gaffney, Jr. detailed what is likely United States’ greatest weakness.

Ever heard of EMP? It stands for electromagnetic pulse. If you have ever heard of it before, it is likely because of movies like the Matrix, in which an EMP is used to combat machines. Well, did you know that EMP is a byproduct of a nuclear explosion? We have known about this for years, but have not given it much thought. During the Cold War, EMP was not much of a consideration, as some many missiles would be launched that the after affect of EMP had little meaning – everything would be destroyed if nuclear war broke out. Now, however, the situation is much different. Mr. Gaffney explains in his speech that a nuclear explosion at a height of about 300 miles above the US would blow out every unshielded electrical device in the US, and parts of Mexico and Canada. Every computer in every bank and government installation, power pants and distribution systems, automobiles and aircraft, and all your iPods would stop working. Some of these electrical devices would never work again. You would not be able to buy groceries, heat or cool your homes, drive, or even call for help. The US would become the largest third-world country in a matter of seconds.

Many will dismiss this notion as silly. After all, China dare not attack us, and Russia is our friend. No other nations have ballistic missiles capable of hitting the US. What about short range missiles like Scuds? Scoff if you like. Dismiss this notion. “How would they get here” you might ask, laughing. By boat. Not laughing now, are you?

Scud missiles can be launched by mobile launchers that are about the size of a tractor-trailer rig. There are many terrorist organizations that can get a hold of these rockets and a ship big enough to transport them. All they are missing at this time is the nuclear warhead…and time is wasting away. It would only take one small cargo ship, with a mobile Scud launcher hidden in its belly to knock the US back into the pre-industrial age.

The only way to stop this threat is to deploy a missile defense system capable of shooting down any missiles before they reach detonation. It is only a matter of time before terrorists get there hands on enough radioactive material to make a warhead that can do this. It doesn’t have to be big - it only had to go boom at around 300 feet. We must support the missile defense program now!

No Name Calling, Please

June 26, 2005

Hello Euphoric Reality readers. Kit’s a little under the weather today and has invited me over for a little guest blogging. My name is Andi and you can find me over at Andi’s World. Now, let’s take a look at how the left has everything backwards.

It seems that lunacy isn’t exclusive to American journalists. After Douglas Woods, the Australian contractor kidnapped in Iraq, was freed from captivity, he actually expressed his true feelings for his captors by calling them a**holes. These remarks have drawn the ire of one Andrew Jaspan, editor of a left-wing newspaper in Australia.

Jaspan tells us that Woods went way too far with his remarks:

Said Jaspan: “I was, I have to say, shocked by Douglas Wood’s use of the a—hole word, if I can put it like that, which I just thought was coarse and very ill-thought through and I think demeans the man and is one of the reasons why people are slightly sceptical of his motives and everything else.

Woods greatest sin was to say “God Bless America” and praise American and Iraqi forces. Apparently, Jaspan thinks Woods should have been more grateful to his captors and a little less grateful to the forces who freed him. After all, his captors didn’t torment him too badly.

[his captors] snatched him, kicked him in the head, kept him blindfolded and bound for 47 days, shaved him bald, killed two of his colleagues, made him beg for his life, and — says a fellow hostage from Sweden — shot several other prisoners in front of him.

That aside, we’re clearly focusing on the wrong issue.

“The issue really is largely, speaking as I understand it, he was treated well there. He says he was fed every day, and as such to turn around and use that kind of language I think is just insensitive.”

Unbelievable, sort of. Andrew Bolt does a fine job taking down Andrew Jaspan and the loony left here. He closes his piece by asking a very good question.

Let me ask younger readers still deciding on their brand of politics. Wouldn’t you blush to join this Left?

Here, Here! Aye, Aye! Whatever they say down under.

Baldwin Park 2 - Full Coverage

June 26, 2005

NEWLY UPDATED (SUNDAY) - NEW PHOTOS, VIDEO FOOTAGE, ARTICLE LINKS, EYEWITNESS COMMENTS.

Welcome to all Malkin and LGF visitors. We’re glad you’re joining us, and invite you to browse our previous coverage of illegal immigration and terrorism issues.

Here’s full coverage of Baldwin Park 2 (BP2), complete with events leading up to it, photos, eyewitness accounts, and soon - video footage. There are two reasons it is so important for the rest of the country to know about this movement in California:

1) Because these events serve to uncover the true agenda and accelerated rhetoric of the pro-illegal/Socialist/anti-American/Communist/Brown Beret Aztlan/ACLU crowd. Why do I lump them all together? Because they’ve lumped themselves together. In their weird logic, they’ve subscribed to the theory that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” - and for all those groups, their enemy is America. Thus these little demonstrations expose the alliances and true intentions of these inter-related groups: crush America through any means available. That’s why you need to pay attention to who shows up at these things, and their motives for working together.

2) Because what is happening now in California is brewing in YOUR state - you just don’t know it yet. The state is bankrupt, it’s educational system is the bottom of the barrel, and its medical system is collapsing in slow motion. It has the highest number of illegal aliens per capita, it has the highest expenses per illegal alien, and highest rate of crime per illegal alien - it has become a cesspool. Just ask anyone who lives there, and speaks English as their primary language.

Keep in mind:

“In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a brave and scarce man, hated and scorned. When the cause succeeds, however, the timid join him…for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.” -Mark Twain

If you’re just now boarding the clue train, go here for for full background coverage on the first Baldwin Park demonstration.
For the Save Our State statement of intent, and on-going open discussion of California’s struggle, go here.
Here is an early MSM article on it in the LA Times entitled “A Monumental War of Words”.
In anticipation of “all eyes on them”, the bold and fearless Baldwin Park city officials have disabled the Navigation and Contact pages on their city website. And remember, I’d reported previously their bold and fearless response to my early inquiries prior to BP1: “NADA”. If you’d like to cast some pearls before swine, here ya go(contact info at bottom).

So, let’s get started on Baldwin Park - Part 2:

Prior to the event, the Baldwin Park city officials made an attempt to have both sides of the demonstration sign promises of non-violence.

Dear SOS and supporters:

On behalf of the City of Baldwin Park, we would like to request that you print the attached non-violence pledge, sign it and give it to any near-by peace officer as you enter your public demonstration area in the city. You may also reply to this by printing your name and information in the designated lines.

Thank you.

Quick thought: why do they need anyone’s address and phone number?

Adan Ortega, has been hired by Baldwin Park to handle public relations over the protests. The city hired Ortega two weeks ago at a cost of about $5,000 per month.

“We just want to make the point that we want there to be peaceful and free expression of people’s opinions. We want people to walk away from confrontation. And stay hydrated,’ Ortega said.

Stay hydrated?! This guy is paid $5000/month to advise people to “play nice” and “stay hydrated”? That’s what people have common sense for. I think Baldwin Park got gypped. But hey - at least they look appropriately concerned and “sensitive” now.

Joseph Turner, executive director of Save Our State…said although his group “has no intention of initiating violence,’ he would not sign the pledge because he objected to the promise “to walk away from confrontation of any type.’

“I’ve stated very clearly that we’re not going to allow anyone to intimidate or prevent us from exercising our First Amendment rights. If someone wants to attack me, I’m going to respond accordingly.’

On Saturday, the city will hand out tip sheets on public demonstration safety, advising protesters to stay off streets and drink plenty of water.

Is it just me, or is this a bad case of the mommy-state? Yes, it is as inane as it looks. And yet, the city has spent plenty of money on such assertive steps as these - $100,000 for the first time around.

Turner said he hopes to cost Baldwin Park as much money as possible to pressure the city to change the monument.

“If we come back 10 times,” he said, “it’ll cost them a million dollars.”
