Farewell, Terri

March 31, 2005

Terri Schindler-Schiavo went to be with her Creator around 10 AM EST this morning. It was not a sudden passing. She died a horrifying, grisly death; two weeks of starving, an end involving a level of pain that called for the administering of morphine. For those of us involved in the fight for Terri’s life, it is perhaps as emotionally bereaving as the loss of a close friend. When I saw it this morning, I spent some time crying on my husband’s shoulder for a woman I had never met, and who didn’t even know I existed.

Many people list “dying alone” as their greatest fear; and yet, while Michael Schiavo denied Terri’s family the chance to be with their daughter as she passed away, we stood by as a nation condemning her to a fate we ourselves find collectively terrifying. Somehow, [and sheep-like], many Americans still managed to think he acted in her best interests. Terri was not a vegetable. She knew what was being done to her, and as evidenced by her trying to speak over and over in her own defense, she did not want it to happen. What kind of despair did she know in the final hours? What level of loneliness did she suffer? If she cried, she cried alone; with no one there to wipe her tears, or tell her it was going to be alright. Indeed, it would not be alright.

What does it say for us as a nation, that we can cheer the murder of an innocent, defenseless woman as a fulfillment of her “rights”? How harshly will we be judged by the One who gives and takes life?

Her family holds to the memory of her, and the hope that they will see her again in heaven. That is all they have. Meanwhile, Michael Schiavo has the money he won pretending to care for his wife. He is free to marry his live-in girlfriend. He has his book deal that’s in the works, which will allow him to ride the train of celebrity a bit longer, and get a few more bucks. And most importantly, his years of abusing Terri will go largely unaccounted for.

Today, Terri’s soul cries out for justice to be done. Today, evil rejoices. As the Psalm says, “How long will the wicked, O LORD, how long will the wicked be jubilant?”

Today, I am ashamed to be an American.

Kerry Still An Amnesiac

March 30, 2005

Tomorrow marks 60 days since the apparently not-so-Honorable Senator John “I Shot People In Nam” Kerry promised to sign a Form 180, releasing his military records to the public. Of course, we’re still waiting.

Last time I posted about this, a reader asked, basically, “Why do you care? He lost the election.” Allow me to explain why it’s important.

I’ll make it simple: If he cannot be trusted to do something as simple as sign a form after promising the American people he would, how can anyone trust him to run the most powerful nation in the free world?

Easy. You can’t.

Remember that when he tries to run again in 2008.

Wictory Wednesday

March 30, 2005

From Polipundit:

When President Bush nominates a conservative judge to the Supreme Court, you can be sure that virtually every Democrat senator will filibuster. Every Republican, however, will vote to end the filibuster.

Winning elections does matter; every seat does count. That’s why you should donate to the 2006 Senate re-election campaign of Lincoln Chafee (R-RI).

Chafee is one of the more independent members of the Republican caucus. But he casts the two most important votes that count:

1. To keep Republicans in charge of the Senate, so that ultra-liberals like Patrick Leahy do not chair key committees.

2. To give the president’s judicial nominees a fair up-or-down vote.

Every seat matters. Please support Chafee’s campaign with an online contribution.

Today is Wictory Wednesday. Every Wednesday, hundreds of bloggers ask their readers to donate to an important Republican campaign.

If you’re a blogger, you can join Wictory Wednesdays by e-mailing me at wictory@blogsforbush.com. I’ll add you to the Wictory Wednesday blogroll. I’ll also send you a reminder e-mail every Wednesday, explaining which candidate to support that day.

Johnnie Cochran Dead

March 30, 2005

The notorious Johnnie Cochran is dead of a brain tumor at age 67. He is perhaps best known for helping O.J. Simpson get away with two brutal murders by playing the race card in an age when people would rather see a murderer go free than be politically incorrect. God knows we didn’t want to make anyone mad.

Hat tip: Lashawn Barber.

Cross Into the Blue

March 29, 2005

Maj Gen Huck Was A Big Pantano Supporter

March 29, 2005

The Washington Times reported on Friday that Maj. Gen. Richard Huck, the Marine general overseeing Pantano’s Article 32 hearing, was once a big supporter of Pantano; endorsing a fitrep that described then-Sgt. Pantano as “highly motivated … always seeking self-improvement … taking college courses while afloat … a great orator and instructor.”

Refreshing Reality

March 29, 2005

This gem comes from This Is Your War, a blog written by an American infantryman in Iraq. It’s 2-3 days old, but I sat on it for a bit, wondering whether to post due to the language. Then I thought, well, whatever. It’s not like no one’s ever heard a swear word before. Besides, what this soldier has to say is gritty, un-political, un-f’d with reality. I know a few people who could use some of this. So - unedited, unchanged. Here you go.

The Litterbox Now Has Two Cats

March 29, 2005

In an effort to ensure you guys always have stuff to read, I’ve brought another kitty on board. Please welcome Heidi, who is the only person I know, (besides The Marine, of course) who is as pro-U.S. and pro-military as I am. Between the two of us, we should be able to keep you informed and entertained. If not, well, go read Democratic Underground. If that’s not funny as hell, I don’t know what is.

I’m Unpopular. It Feels GREAT.

March 28, 2005

Michael over at Curiouser and Curiouser brings us this story about a high school student who wrote two op-ed articles that opposed illegal immigration and affirmative action. The school not only pulled the articles and publicly apologized for them, but even held meetings for parents and other students to “discuss” the articles, denouncing and ridiculing the student; who was also verbally and physically assaulted as a result of his articles.

He sued in federal court, citing violations of his free speech rights, and was shot down by an idiot judge, who stated that the articles “were equivalent to something from ‘a white power publication or Ku Klux Klan.”

So, we have people like Ward Churchill running around telling people how to commit terrorist acts, and an entire MSM dedicated to spreading disinformation, slanted “news”, and flat-out liberal, anti-American bias; and yet some highschooler who disagrees with the U.S. rolling the red carpet out for a bunch of illegal immigrants is smacked down for being “unpopular”.

Since those who believe affirmative action and illegal immgration are wrong are “unpopular”, allow me to tell you just how unpopular I am.

I think illegal immigrants should be deported. All of them. End of story. In fact, because I’m a nationalist who believes that my right to be safe is more important than someone else’s right to move here, I think we should almost close our borders , too.

I think affirmative action is BS. I don’t care what color you are. If you can do the job, you should get it. If you can’t, you damn sure shouldn’t.

Side rant: Here’s another crazy viewpoint. I think “reverse racism” is a bigger problem than “racism”. I realize that statement is redundant, but God knows I have to say things so the politically correct folks get it. Bottom line is, I’m not sorry I’m white. I don’t care that I am. I don’t expect anything for it. It doesn’t make me better than you. And it damn sure doesn’t mean I should step aside for jobs and other things because you’re not white. I’m glad you’re proud of your heritage, whatever it may be, but there’s no need for “Pride” parades. If there is, and I somehow missed the memo, then mark your calendars:

This Saturday I’m holding a “White, Conservative, Pro-Military, Pro-Action-In-Iraq, I-Want-To-Earn-What-I-Get” Pride rally.

No, you’re not invited. This is only for unpopular people.

Michael Schiavo’s Writing A Book?

March 28, 2005

According to And Rightly So,

Rumor is he has a book deal he is trying to get set up. I for one will not buy or read any book he writes. I’m not going to help him get even more rich at the cost of Terri’s blood.

When I snorted in disgust at the idea of Michael Schiavo cashing in on the book-celebrity vehicle, my Marine husband said, “So…that means there’ll be book signings…”

The Space Between Innocent and Guilty

March 28, 2005

There has been literally miles of type on the subject of Michael Schiavo over the last few years. Is he a loving husband, with the courage to stand firm in the face of national opposition and ridicule for his wife’s wishes? Is he a diabolical murderer, willing and eager to kill the one person he promised to love and cherish no matter what in an effort to hide his abuse? Is he somewhat in between, a tainted saint that began unselfishly and somehow got dragged along by a lawyer? At this point, perhaps it doesn’t matter. Terri may be hours or even minutes from her death, and soon the fight will turn to what to do with her remains.

Those who read this blog, or any of my posts on the other blogs I write for, know my view; so I won’t belabor the point right this moment. Instead, I offer this question: How would an innocent man act? How would a guilty one act? I think the difference between the two, and the amount of Michael Schiavo’s actions that fall on one side or the other, are what make this case such a travesty. Draw your own conclusions.

Hunger Strike For Terri

March 26, 2005

From GOPInsight:

Several folks have decided to start fasting for Terri according to the article below. A fast is where you stop eating for a period of time. Fasting is to abstain from food. Water is the only acceptable thing that can be put down your throat during a fast. Truthful doctors will even tell you that this is good for you as you will clean out your body of toxins. We are fasting for one of three different things. For Terri to get her feeding to put back, for Terri to be completely healed, or for Terri to pass on from this earth and be with the Lord. We will not stop fasting until one of these three things happens. If you have started fasting for Terri please email me at FastforTerri@GOPInsight.com to get added to the list. We assume no liability for those participating in a fast … it is on their own will. I will keep this post on the front page of GOPInsight until something happens as people contact me their names will be listed below.

The Vice President of the Colorado Right to Life, Leslie Hanks, began the hunger strike Thursday. Nathan Fietzer of GOPInsight and myself have joined this fast, and will continue until Terri’s feeding tube is reinserted, or until she passes away.

Where Are the Libs Now?

March 25, 2005

From GOPInsight:

All the perfumes in the world will not sweeten the hands of the Democrats who have added yet another layer of fresh blood of an innocent. They may scrub with words but their stench remains. The soul of Terri Schiavo cries from the grave she has yet to fully enter.

You Democrats, who loudly proclaim your support of individual civil liberties…who insist that everyone has a “right” to health care…where is your champion now? Who in your party steps forward to defend Terri’s civil rights, the right to life as enumerated clearly in our Declaration of Independence? Who is concerned with her right to health care? Instead, you are championing the “right” of someone else to usurp her rights.

I cannot improve upon this. Go read the whole thing.
